Just look and listen closely. These r definitely drum machine sounds. Mics r either for the looks or used as a trigger + some editing. Dont get me wrong.. the drums sound great! but they are not the drums u r seeing if u know what i mean ;)

@Virgil Grin Other people might think differently but to me, I have just had practice recording my acoustic kit; I even have nearly the same bronze Paiste's as in this clip. First of all There's no overhead mics or anything like that, only something on the snare and toms (perhaps the kick too, although I can't see). There's no way the cymbals would sound so defined and separated in the mix with only tom and snare mics. fysiX is right, definitely triggering I'd say. Everything is so crisp and high quality sounding. From experience this is bloody hard with all acoustic recording, and takes lots of talent not just by the drummer, but also the recording engineer, quite decent mics and preamps/interfaces etc, and getting a pretty spot on performance in terms of timing, drum hits etc. Because editing takes in post when you're using like 8 mics can become a nightmare. At the same time, great drumming, great sound, and it's what we've come to expect from very precise modern, processed music like this - people would rather listen to sampled drums than a crappily mic'd all acoustic kit. At the end of the day you gotta give the people what they want.

ENDERwigginMEDIC actually no it wasn’t a perfect cover go back and watch her foot pedal on the bass kicks. I’m not a drummer at all and noticed it right off. Plus she missed some high hats snakes mid song. No doubt she has skills but far from perfect. Plus this is the act song not her playing. Be like me playing air guitar on a real guitar to my favorite song.
