Yeah it’s definitely one of those franchises that didn’t gel all that well with audiences outside of Japan. Samurai heroes is the only game I’ve played from the series and I absolutely loved it. Would love to get access to more tbh
The game we got in the west was basically a retooling of the series. They used the jump to PS3 to cut down the roster while greatly enhancing the combat. There were 4 more games released afterwards where they fleshed out the roster and further built on the gameplay foundation that SB3/SB:SH established. Fantastic series that deserves another shot.
Sengoku Basara Samurai Warriors is amazing. I have 175 hours with the game. It was my first musou game, and from then on I became addicted to the genre. 350 hours in Basara 4, 100 hours in One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, 150 hours in Samurai Warriors 4-2, 100% in Senran Kagura Estival Versus, 215 hours in Fire Emblem 3 hopes, and so many more.
I’m so glad that I was (and still am) hugely into the PS3. Favorite system of all time. My physical collection is over 500 games with well over half on my backlog. I have a problem…….
I’m right there with you man, still so much more to dig into and uncover. Seems like you got most of your collection at the right time too as I’ve noticed a lot of games climbing recently that were usually still cheap to find
@@thepolygondon9198 Yeah, I’ve been collecting since launch. Got my OG Fat 60 gig a month after it came out and never looked back. And the prices have been so weird, up and down and up and down since the lockdown……. Collecting in general has become so different since then. Just for reference, I’ve been gaming since I was 2 in 1983 (still have all my systems and games from childhood) and seriously collecting since 1996 after getting my PS1 and N64.
Great video! You seem to have found a format that works and I really dig it. Aside from Sengoku Basara, the games you featured are all on my list of games I missed that I want to check out. Glad to see they would be worth my time. It's a shame that some of them got so expensive though. Not sure if I want to spend 60 EUR on Splatterhouse, but I might eventually fork out the 40 EUR necessary to purchase Captain America. Or I can just get TimeShift for 2 EUR and call it a day. :)
Thanks man, appreciate you saying that! 👊🏼 Yeah most of the decent PS3 games are now all climbing in price so get in their quick if there’s a particular one you’re after. And if you ever visit the UK or London know that you can pick up Captain America for around £15-£20. 👍🏼 I always incorporate game hunting into any holiday or country I visit but then I do have a slight problem 😅
@@thepolygondon9198 Funny you should say that! I'll be in London for EGX 😀, so we'll do plenty of game hunting next week-end. I noticed in a lot of pick-up videos that prices in the UK tend to be quite lower than even the best deals I find here in France. And yeah, I hear you, hunting for new games can become a bit of a problem for me as well, especially since I already have a bajillion games in my backlog (many of them that I own or are free on some subscription service).
@_timeforgames haha amazing! Have a great time at EGX! (must admit I’m quite jealous! Never been myself and always wanted to) and if you’re looking for anything specific, try a shop called CEX, there’s loads across London and the UK. If you go on their website before you travel and search for the game you want, you can then filter which shops have a copy and plan it into your route one day. There’s better gaming shops out there for sure but CEX has a lot of branches so you might be more likely to find what you’re after. Safe travels and happy game hunting! 👊🏼
@@thepolygondon9198I just posted a quick montage on my channel of our experience at EGX. I think I captured the vibe pretty well: lots of indie games, cool retro space, definitely worth a visit in 2024. 😉
I got a copy of Wet and Anarchy reign recently, those are getting rare. I got a copy of splatterhouse after years of searching for one in a decent state. I love 360/ps3 era action games, we don't get of those nowadays.
Nice! Always a good feeling finally adding a game to the collection after having in your sights for so long. Yeah it really was the golden age for that type of batshit crazy action game 😂 even the box art for most of them reflects the era. Love collecting for the PS3 👌🏼
I'm glad your channel is finally blowing up. You make exceptionally professional and engaging content that has a real zen/relaxing vibe... In saying that, we can't agree on Timeshift. I recently dug it out of my backlog, excited because of the interesting time mechanic, however, I quickly found the enemies to be bullet sponges and the controls far too loose and floaty!
Thanks man, appreciate you saying that and yeah, that’s definitely the vibe I’m going for with the content, glad you noticed! 😊 Ahh man, gutted you didn’t vibe with Timeshift, it’s not perfect and it definitely has some faults, but for me personally I could look past most of them and still get some enjoyment out of the game, especially for the price it’s going for these days. But you’re absolutely right about the enemies, they are a bit bullet spongey
2:16 i disagree with this take, this is a genre on life support nowadays, we could always use some more old school hack n slash and beat em up games nowadays
Jesus Christ loves you 💙 He has a plan and a purpose for your life, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jesus Christ loves you 💙
Timeshift was so good but it really needed a better story if it wanted to be successful. Online was fun af even if there were only like 10 dudes on when I played.
I really enjoy these videos and generally pick up a couple of the titles. Anarchy reigns looks a definite must have. Thanks for making these vids - they are excellent
Thank you for saying so dude and yes, I would say Anarchy Reigns is definitely a must have for any PS3 game collection! 👍🏼 Hope you enjoy it if you do pick it up
I used to play basara devil kings on the ps2 when I was 9 years old thinking when i grow old I will purchase this game for myself and I'm sure everyone knows how good this game is so ever since then I have been trying to get my hands on a basara game, but as I grew up I realized that no one even knows this game and hate how underrated it actually is!! The amount of hours me and my cousin would spend playing multiplayer split screen was unreal! Every year I think of this game and try to find a way to play it, but I cant. another year now 2024 and I just searched up how underrated this game is and i saw this video with my fav basara character ( Fuma Kotaro) on the thumbnail show up! I love the fact that there are people out here that recognize this game!
I've had Anarchy Reigns just sitting on my shelf for a while. I need to get around to that one soon, that one and El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron.
I played Anarchy Reigns years ago, and I remember next to nothing about it. I remember it being a pretty underwhelming experience, but I never bothered with the multiplayer.
the only game i do not have in this set is time shift , i got cap on 360 and splatterhouse for a while now , and i just got Sengoku Basara 3 and 4 this week and i got Anarchy Reigns coming on monday
@@thepolygondon9198 4 sure bud. . I don't know how well it aged since I've been spoiled with game graphics, but psi ops was the first game I ever played that did psychic powers right. . I hope you find it and enjoy it as much as I did.
Yeah it’s a pricey one nowadays unfortunately. Keep an eye out at boot sales and charity shops though, you never know. Also if you have a CEX near you that has a copy, try trading a load of unwanted stuff to pick it up. I’ve done that in the past when something has been too expensive to spend real world cash on 😂
That would’ve been great, even if they gave the work of porting it to another studio as PlatGames were quite busy last gen. We can still hope it gets a remaster or remake though 🤞🏼
Arghhhh!! Don't have Splatterhouse nor Captain America for PS3. The latter is megabucks! Honorable mentions are (excuse the repetition):- Bayonetta Bourne Conspiracy, the Binary Domain BulletStorm Bodycount Darkness, the 1 + 2 Dark Sector (the glaive is one of the best weapons in gaming history) Darksiders 1 + 2 Fear 1,2,3 Fuel Just Cause 2 Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom Medal of Honor Airbourne Assault Mini Ninjas Overlord 1 Raising Hell + 2 [Prototype] 1+2 Red Faction(s) Guerilla and Armageddon Saboteur Shadows of the Damned *Singularity* South Park - The Stick of Truth (can't stand turn based strategy games but loved this) Spider-man Shattered Dimensions SSX Vanquish Wet Wolfenstein (2009) X-men Origins Wolverine Zone of the Enders
Solid recommendations man, a lot of these are scheduled for future vids but some I still need to add to my collection. Shattered Dimensions and Web of shadows are definitely a couple I’ve been after for a while, I’m still trying to find copies at a price I’m happy to pay though 😂 Dark Sector is one I’ve glossed over time and time again and never picked up, I will next time I see it! South Park, Majin and Wolverine are some of my all time favs from that gen!
@@thepolygondon9198 Wet, Singularity and Dark Sector are still very cheap eg via CEX. Granted those games aren't elite tier they are still very cheap, cheerful and reasonably challenging. A few honourable mentions. Infamous 1 (£1.50) + 2 (£4) Beyond Two Souls (£1.50!) Dragon's Dogma + Dark Arisen (£1.50 each) The irony that the non amazing spiderman used titles sell for over £50 is just astonishing. Happy game hunting to you PolygonDon.
I LOVE Inversion!! Great taste! 👌🏼 And it definitely gets overlooked by most people. It’s actually scheduled to be included in one of my future vids so keep an eye out for it 😊
Sengoku was top 3 split screen co-op games for me its basically dynasty warriors format with devil may cry combat and there are a lot of secret characters depending on how you complete missions, weapon crafting, and cool special abilities
@@thepolygondon9198 me and my friend spent a lot of hours unlocking secret characters looking up online how to get everyone and leveling characters up it was great and good video as well 👍
I was interested in this as well. Would be bice if you included a list of all games or had a little name tag in the video. Can you tell me what game id shown at 0:21?
Nice! Final Fantasy 13 is one of the only ‘newer’ FF games I haven’t played. I own a copy but it’s sat in my backlog for years now. I need to just get on that already
@@thepolygondon9198 it’s not for everyone but i definitely got hooked ! The setting, characters and story really did it for me. The visuals and sound design are great too!
@alexterieur8813 nice man, yeah I was always blown away by the visuals! Looking forward to diving in now. You’ve just refreshed my desire to play it 👍🏼
Yeah man, I think that goes for a lot of the AA games from that gen. It’s getting to the point where it’s just indies or AAA nowadays, seems like anything in between is too much of a monetary risk for the dev studios
A lot of these game are exactly as appreciated as they should be. They were all 6/10 games back then. Worth a 5 dollar bin impulse buy. You'll have fun. They're functional, but nothing to call "a classic" nor "revolutionary"
Siren Blood Curse is so underrated. heavenly Sword and Duck Tales Remastered ain't bad either. I have Captain America on PS3 and Splatterhouse on Xbox 360, they are awesome games
Blood Curse is something I’ve had in my backlog for so long! I’ve heard it’s good, I really should just play the damn thing already. Halloween is coming up which will probably be the best time to play it. Thanks for reminding me! Love Heavenly Sword and Duck Tales! 👌🏼
What a gigantic clickbait waste of time. The thumbnail has nothing to do with any of these games and it's just there to resemble Elden Ring and nothing else.
i really enjoyed splatterhouse. The voice acting was great and the soundtrack was killer with some of them paying homage to 80s horror.Technically the game is a mess and coukd have been alot better.Nevertheless I loved it and prices for this game have shot up.
Same here man! It’s probably down to tech limitations on split screening it but if not, then I feel like if a game has online multiplayer functionality of any sort, it needs to have local too. That way even if the severs flop, all that development work can still be enjoyed by people. But I’m not a dev and quite honestly, haven’t got the foggiest clue on how to make games 😂 Amazing action game though 👌🏼
