I'm slowly getting my brain used to color confirmation on slightly further targets (10 meters). It feels weird and uncomfortable, but wow the speed increase!! Just like in your example: the difference between "dot near paster" and "flash of red" is a whole order of magnitude faster. I never thought I could hit A-zones that fast. It's motivating to work even harder at getting better. Thanks Ben for putting time in those videos! I don't mind the sound so much, these are precious for my continued learning.

You asked for feedback so letting you know the audio was bad on this. Started good but then something might have been blocking the mike

The mic adjusts for the gun, so it gets low bc of loud gunfire then he talks before the mic can readjust to the lower volume….can see this in a lot of other videos too

I was stuck in the mud with my shooting as it pertains to getting faster until I heard this from you a few months ago between the confirmation levels and eyes driving the firearm I'm actually making progress for the first time in months.... Thank you

I'll admit I still need to work on actually implementing it in other disciplines, but I feel like shooting steel challenge helped the concept of color confirmation click for me. Most targets are close enough and tight groups don't matter at all, hits just have to be somewhere on the plate.

Sitting here watching this at 10:00 p.m. ,while loading mags for my steel challenge match tomorrow morning. Going to try and implement this to see if it helps shave time vs. my last match.

I think thumbnails with the gun in frame will help views. It's been awesome having a vid or two to watch throughout the day. When I get home, it's dryfire then I read practical shooting training. Thanks again man!

As a local Arizona boy, I can tell you are shooting in one of our off the side of the road shooting spots. I swear that spot looks familiar.

Its what you've been doing. One is for analysis, is making gross corrections by shooting the target as agressively as possible so I can see biases or reactions I have. And are those able to be remedied with a simple adjustment, or what mental and mechanical thing am I overlooking for it? The next is to do a drill as picture perfect from the beginning, and increase the speed progressively so there's no gaps in technique. And that technique just has to be perfectly consistent and I build the speed up overtime, by then the technique is so isolated and becomes normalised. Then its pressuring the technique by switching two targets, one close and longer range target to see if that technique is so automatic that I can focus on exact shot placement because of the zeroing, and if that matches up with what I'm thinking. And the best level of that is probably to dial it up to a fast as humanly possible state.

Been hearing "Aim at the small spot on a target" for awhile now. On this channel and some others. I don't entirely get. Maybe explanation is a bit vague. But with my -0.75 vision, which is I see fine but anything farther than 5-7 yards is a bit blurry. As in I can't see bullet holes at 7 yards. Which for iron sights is fine. But at farther distances, paper targets - there are no spots to pick on a target. It's a white shape, I aim at the center (IPSC target), generally at shoulder target level and I send it. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not. But there's no "spot" to pick. Human eyes are not too good at focusing intensely on blurry objects, let alone attempting to create a visual spot. Maybe I'm missing something in the explanation though

Shooting is a visual sport. Get corrective distance lenses if you’re shooting target focused. If you can’t see the “A” perforated in the cardboard at 15 yards or bullet holes out at 25, your optometrist is doing you dirty.

Just turned 50 yesterday. Between 481/2 to now this is what my eyesight has become. Messed up part is my far sight was damn near perfect but could barely read my phone & fine paper print and no longer differentiate front sights from rear. I got eyeglasses for upclose reading and after months of those, it's turned my farsight into a blurred mess.

Well with my glasses (for driving mainly) I can see far just fine. When shooting Production Optics, it's fine. But with glasses front-sight is not even a blur, it's just a messy black fog with a hint of a red. Tried precision shooting back to back with and without corrective glasses and there's no use for perfect vision out there when you can't say where you're sights are at. Hence my general question about "finding a spot"

Oh! Now I see that you put the aiming reference in line with the letters/high chest instead of in the center of the A zone.

I’ve kinda been having trouble picking out a small spot on the target while trying to go fast. My question is will placing a small aiming reference on targets do me any disservice when I shoot a target without one?
