MAN!!! That short skit that Nawaz performed towards the end of the interview has destroyed the careers of most of the mainstream actors in Bollywood today! What a true actor!! Amazing!
Terrific actor... We are lucky to have witnessed actors like Om Puri, Naseerudhin Shah, Pankaj Tripati, Raajkumar Rao, Irrfan Khan and this guy..!! Brilliance at its best!
You forget the actor who has been declared two times the greatest actor of Asia continent and which has been inspiration for these actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkumar Rao, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sunny Hinduja. One and only Manoj Bajpai sir. Bro Manoj Bajpayee sir won 2 times Asia Pacific Award that means best performance by an actor in Asia. And he has also won 3 national award,6 Filmfare award, padmashree. And what he has shown till now is might be only 2% of what he has because of lack of opportunity. His movies like satya, shool, pinjar, road, aksh, jubeida, gangs of Wasseypur, gully gulleyian, Aligarh, Bhosle Family Man Se 1&2, silence: Can You Hear It, Dial 100.he is really a gem. And no one knows more about acting that Manoj Bajpayee sir knows from stanislavski to Lee starsberg. He watches all movies wether it is hindi, tamil, malyalam, telgu, Hollywood, Russian, Iranian, British. He did plays in France and Spain too he is so passionate and no one can match his level. I know some of you will tell Mohanlal anyone else is better but when it comes whole Asia/india then Manoj Bajpayee sir is best 🔥🔥.
I wish this had English subtitles for us international acting students could understand what he’s saying. He’s one of my role models in the industry and I would love to learn something from him. Nawazuddin’s acting skills are beyond perfection!
He is talking about the characters he has played and that in the manner he has played each character has been because of his life experiences with people whose styles he has tried to adopt in them.
Waqas Aslam She is the best.Vidhu Vinod Chopra has got a gem of a woman. She understands films and I think she would definitely be a good director but she loves her job.
This guy is just pure genius. He has an amazing observation of the society he lives in and draws his characters emotions from it. This is skill is very rare among most actors. Im not an actor or interested in acting but I could watch this interview over and over. Keep making movies Nawaz, I hope the day comes when actors such as you are titled the real superstars, who truly deserves the awards and rewards not the commercial actors.
Okay so you are not interested in acting?? Lol lol lol.. Either I am biggest fool or you are lying. Every individual wants to be an actor in some point of his life.. If you don't want, then you must be a boring scientist or a corporate slave..That's it
We absolutely agree! Not only his acting, he's transformed his appearances too! Check it out: www.filmcompanion.in/article/from-mom-to-manto-the-changing-face-of-nawazuddin-siddiqui
Film Companion Already read this article, I am a regular on your channel and site..but thanks anyway..give my best to Anupama ma'am she is so amazing.. :)
Saddam Ansari I was wondering, so many of the nuances he brings to his characters are derived from his village and his old 'normal' life. Is that the reason most star kids ars unable to do REAL acting? Cause they haven't had any real experiences and interractions.
this was so powerful oh my god. ! i want to hear story behind each of his characters. He is visibly a tortured soul and derives all his creative energy from his darkest corners. He has found a way to weaponize his fears. But its alright for him as long as he is serving his art. This is sheer brilliance. Without a doubt, for me nawaz is at the level of deniro, pacino, daniel day lewis, joaquin phoenix. He might be far from perfect as a person in real life, but this country has not seen a performer as powerful as this man in a long time.
How intelligent he is ! He has learnt so many things from his real life and portray into his reel life. In every five scenes he looked different, he acted differently..🙏🙏🙏
He comes up to the true sense of the word “artist”. An artist to the core. He has actually learned this art of being an artist with such definiteness that now he doesn’t even waver for a second. He will make an excellent teacher at an acting university. He’s got a PhD in acting just by practising the art. A huge, solid powerhouse of acting art.
I was actually visualizing a guy sitting in such a place talking to a dead body. Plus the thing is, his face matches that stereotype of a villager! Yup, it was dark AF.
@30:27 I love the way Nawaz is going with the flow and suddenly realized that he is going too far ( bench..) and he must sit down... best thing is how he covers up saying aisa sa kuch Hua tha. What a talent! :-D
This scene from Lunchbox is one of my favourites too...and I remember in the end Nawaz's character says...uski taraf se scooter bhi de rahe hain( I think that line was impromptu).I remember the scene so clearly and Lunchbox is one of my most favourite films.. almost each scene is a gem.
@Physics isiliye bol rha tha psychology padh lol 😆. Tere arguements kitne foolish hain matlab koi criminal movie banti hai to logon ko inspiration milega waah abe police officials aur crime branch officials ko aisi movies dikhaayi jaati hai taaki wo agli bar kisi psychopath ke dimaag ko jaan sake aur usse use jaldi pakad sake . Aise to Di Nero bhi bahut bada criminal lagega tujhe . Psychopaths pe movies abhi nhi bane 1960s se bante aa rhe hain itni saari books likhi gyi hain issi subject pe taaki log aware rhe ki aise bhi log hain society mein par tere jese pessimistic log negative hi dekhenge har cheez mein
This interview is a piece of art. I keep coming back to it every time I generate a thought about it in the back of my mind. The last portion when Nawaz sahb is describing that 5hr murder story is just a fabulous acting lesson! Kudos to Film Companion for doing this and a big thank you to Nawaz sahb for existing ❤️
OMG This was perhaps the best interview of Nawaz bhai so far. I have seen many of his interviews but believe me, this was the BEST. I think the host Anupama Chopra has done a great job by adding the concept of Top 5 scenes, and also Nawaz bhai explained so beautifully by enacting it with his real life incidents. Thank you so much Film Companion for this interview. You guys are really good at your business. Just one suggestion for you, please put English subtitle for the viewers who don't understand Hindi.
This interview, what Nawaz said here is equivalent or bigger than an acting course one can do who wants to be an actor or already an actor, regardless of the language they act in. The explanation of preparation process he gave for the character in Lunchbox is legendary. An institution. No one like him.
I am damn sure Anupama would have got chills after listening to that last story, and wished this interview should end as soon as possible! It seems Nawaz has lived each and every character to its soul and its there in him, each and every bit !
Thank you so much for this amazing interview. This was the first time I heard Nawazuddin Siddiqqui, the person beyond the mask and his method and technique to approach his characters. And it is so interesting and endearing to know that his characters are shaped by his own experiences, observations and world view... and my god what an awesome world view it is. To make a character's inner turmoil and struggles and aspirations be voiced out with immense humanity is the only job of an actor and Nawaz does it with such empathy and brilliance. He is a rare gem of an artist and a human and I think my generation is crazy lucky to have witnessed his talents ...Here's wishing for many more stories/characters to be unleashed through him... Cheers !!
I had surprisingly never watched The Lunchbox prior to this interview, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is absolutely amaaazzingggg in it!! His performance gives me goosebumps, crying without crying, unbelievable!!
I wish somewhere sometime Nolan finds this guy, so that he can re/create a character like the joker that Heath Ledger did, Or (it's probably less likely but) somebody creates that kind of dark and multilayered character, just because we can witness, Nawaz in his eternal glory.
Oh please, Nolan, Hollywood... So that they could curb all his idiosyncrasies and difference and talent and make him look like a dumb, formulaic Hollywood twat? What makes Nawaz great is his ability to choose great movies, and act incredibly well, such that his acting in a totally Indian movie is universally valid. Indian directors know how to use Nawaz's abilities, they build perfect rapport. Sharing language and culture is a great advantage. Same with all great actors. They act best in their native tongues and when not typecast.
I'm glad i don't have to spend so much on a film school. The content on this channel is education material. Love it. Thank you so much, Anupama! Your service is invaluable.
I don't know for how many times I have watched this interview without skipping a second. The more I watched this, the more I want to understand the acting of Nawaz bhai and believe me I am still unable to calculate how exactly he enacts those scenes? Nawaz bhai is seriously unbelievable for me. Such a talented actor! ❤
Thanks a lot, Parag. Keep watching for more! If you liked this video, you'd definitely love Rajkummar Rao's commandments too. Watch it here: www.filmcompanion.in/article/fc-commandments-rajkummar-rao
Best film companion interview so far ... truly brings out what it takes to bring out a character on screen that we all revere ... looking forward to more such interviews with likes of Irrfan and Rajkumar Rao
If you haven't already, watch our Interview with Rajkummar Rao talk about his acting commandments: www.filmcompanion.in/article/fc-commandments-rajkummar-rao
I have seen all these videos ... my comment was more about this format of picking 5 best characters and understanding the process that went behind bringing them to life on screen
Love how he takes real life examples as inspirations for the character he portrays on screen to the best of his abilities in the scene. Really bollywood is blessed to ave an actor like him.
Im completely stunned with this man, his knowledge about acting n the way he get into all these characters is something which we can not expect from other actors, he is the god of indian cinemas..
The i day i saw this interview i had a feeling that no one is better than heath ledger when it comes to dark character but this man here surpasses every skill that heath might have in him a true actor ....salute from the heart..
Clearly, his background has played a very critical role in bringing out those brilliant performances......sadly, which these "STAR KIDS" can never ever think of attempting even in their dreams... give chances to this kind of actors to save indian film industry...
Naveen Gupta I agree. Bollywood seriously needs to be saved. The larger than life sterio type stars have mislead youth for many years now. And ruined their lives. By giving false expectations. This is real and depiction of the contemporary times. Hope Bollywood industry changes now for good.
Nawaz is a fab actor & thankfully he got an equally amazing director like Mr Kashyap. Together they are one of the best actor - director duo in the world.
One thing about great actors like Nawajuddin and Manoj Vajpayee is how appreciative are they of greats of Hollywood. While people like Ananya Pandey say godfather is overrated without even watching it.
After watching this interview I feel like that I have completed my Master's degree in acting ... The best thing about Nawaaz is his ability to adapt and absorb a character that he plays ... every single character that Nawaaz played through out his journey are driven from some characters that he met or have seen ... He's is a true gem ... A beautiful soul inside , inspiring and a honest human being ...... Love you Nawaaz Bhai ...may Allah less you ...
Nawazuddin is a people star. I remember him 20 Years back in Goregaon Vanrai.Today after 20 Years Later, the people Man . Nawazuddin Siddiqui.Proud to have you as my Society member.
