Thank you. BEST explanation of Class E and G that I have heard. Helps me very much for my Part 107 test. No other instructor has explained this so well.

This is the best and most excellent, explained example, of how to understand Classes of airspace. The diagrams were on point, which gave me a better visual understanding.

it might be obvious to some people but I thought it might be helpful to others to point out that part of part 107 requirements don't always align with The requirements when flying as a hobbyist (49 U.S. Code § 44809 - Exception for limited recreational operations of unmanned aircraft) One thing that's different is the allowance to fly above a structure into class E airspace. I believe that's only allowed under part 107. It's also not allowed under part 107 when you have LAANC aauthorization up to a certain altitude in controlled airspace. For example if you have authorization up to 400 ft you cannot climb above that even if there's a 800 ft tower in the same place.

I'm very curious, how can an airport have class E airspace with a floor that is above surface? (Either 700 or 1200). I suppose they do not account take offs and landings for this purpose? And, although Class G exists below E airspace at the airport, one would STILL need permission from the airport (Not necessarily ATC clearence) for flying on airport property, correct? What if I'm in Class G airspace JUST outside the airport? That would be unreasonable to suggest doing, but i think you understand why I'm asking. I feel like I'm missing some things, here.

I think you got it all right, and I will add this for some clarification. Class E airspace designated with a floor that is above the surface is typically done to provide a transition area between the controlled airspace and the uncontrolled airspace below. The regulations regarding drone operation in Class G airspace on airport property may vary depending on the specific airport and local regulations. However, it's important to note that even in Class G airspace, you may still need permission to fly your drone on airport property. Many airports have specific regulations and procedures in place for drone operations on their property, even in uncontrolled airspace. This could include obtaining permission from airport authorities or following specific rules and restrictions to ensure safe and legal operations.
