Jeffrey Gordon, MD, often called “the father of microbiome research,” is the 2024 recipient of Northwestern University's Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science. The Nemmers Prize of $350,000 is awarded to a biomedical scientist whose work exhibits outstanding achievement in medical science, as demonstrated by works of lasting significance.
