I recently found your channel and a couple others that talk about sawmill. I am a fairly new owner of a Timberking 1600 and I appreciate what you and many others are teaching. In this episode and the one about setting and sharpening I learned a great deal. Muchas Gracias pues.

Thank you. Great info for this newcomer. Purchased an old LT40. Came with a sharpener. Hence, I am searching for knowledge. You're correct on the less set down lower.

So far I'm liking Kasco blades from Southeast Metals, their sales & service dept. is very friendly and efficient as well 😊

I use 4 degree for everthing, they cut a hair slower but straighter

Indeed, I'm very impressed with them. I cut slow anyway 😆

Woodmizer and Lennox make the best blades. 040 and .045 thickness are the only way to go. Anything thinner just wont last or cut straight. I figure 10- 12 hours( 6x resharpe) on a blade and its scape metal.

Dogs in face made the video. Found the funky blued German blade with cross blade heat treatment interesting.

Good one Thomas... Thank you. Regarding blade thickness; it seems to me that the 55's do not last quite as long as those in the 40 range (41, 42, 45). I've had breakage much quicker on the 55's, but they do seem to cut flatter. Thanks again!

The thicker blades need larger wheels to travel on, but I agree, they cut extremely flat on a sawmill like mine.
