Thanks for these videos. One of my 'themes' is Scrupulosity (in many different variations), one in particular being that I feel I have to say "Thank you" to God in a certain way and often will say it over and over a certain amount of times, etc. And, if I don't say it correctly in a certain way -- it's not enough -- and that very thing will be taken away. And those things are often what mean most to me. Also, there's that part of me that says I should be thanking God in that "proper" way, that it's the right thing to do and that it's different than hand-washing, etc.

Matt, just wanted to let you know I bought your book and read it front to back. You have reinvigorated me with hope to conquer this thing. I just started incorporating the Triple A response to any intrusive thought that pops up. I am hopeful I can get past this chapter of my life and continue writing my story.

Please could I ask you to pray for my family. My adult son (who still lives at home) has driven himself mad with, what I now see, as Scrupulosity. We are unable to get him to see a counsellor, he refuses to go. He says God has left him, he felt the Holy Spirit drain ouf of him and he has hardened his heart. At first I couldn't understand how he had gotten hold of some wrong teaching/doctrine but God drew me to this condition of Scrupulosity.

I really enjoy your episodes discussing scrupulosity, since it isn't often discussed as much as other forms of OCD. And you have a particularly strong insight into this area and ability to explain things.

If I can say something to comfort those of you who have intrusive thoughts/feelings around religious topics. The fact that your brain has chosen religion as it’s target this time is precisely because that’s what you least want it to. So your real wants and your real personality is as far from those intrusions as possible. To use myself as an example, I’m very not religious. So if I have a pop up thought about some religious figure or blasphemous action. That thought holds no value positive or negative for me. So I won’t get attached, and I won’t try to force it away either. And the result is that I don’t have these thoughts often. But I am struggling with intrusive thought/feelings in other areas about topics that my morality find very very important. And those are the thoughts my brain delivers to me in loop over and over. So in conclusion, the topic of our intrusions says nothing about our identity or wishes. Good luck to us all in getting free ❤

I don’t know what I believe anymore. Grew up as a baptist. Didn’t make much difference with my mother. Did everything right. Drank a bit. Never ever slept around and I am the one with no life

This is a great time to discover what you believe. Remember, your relationship with God is for you, not to please your mother or anyone else. I hope you’ll have a fresh encounter with Jesus. Question: You said you have no life, so what do you consider having a life?
