I've had embarrassing moments like these all the time growing up, and i can also resonate with previously not wanting to look like an airhead or stupid. I am surprised as i type this out that it has been a while since I have had these thoughts. Ever since I started to become more open with people and accepting them as my peers, these thoughts that previously would have been embarrassing were rarely entertained internally. She sounds scared of being judged. One way to curb this mentality is by adopting a universal worldview, where you see yourself and your peers as part of a fluorishing system.

Having my own space away from my childhood environment and recognizing the desire to become better, this allowed me to realize that i needed to form new patterns and find ways to deal with old pattern triggers.

The photo you use which is a scene prevalent in so many movies, illustrates the therapist taking notes. This is totally contrary to the trainings and practice of myself and every other therapist I know

Of course, the image is contrary to what many clinicians do today. The image was designed to pay homage to “Freud’s Couch.” Today, the vast majority of clinicians and clients sit directly opposite each other, make eye contact, there is limited note taking during the session, etc. The lecture is part of a series that focuses on different approaches to counseling. An image was selected for each approach that is catchy and has some connection to that model of therapy.

I think therapy sessions could help in certain situations. Role playing in whick you get at the core and act out stuck trauma.

This is a fantastic question. What is your specialty area in graduate school? I would focus on that to start. As a clinician, you will also be exposed to different theoretical orientations. I would focus on CBT, some of the relational analysis principles, and existentialism. If you have a good foundation in these models, you will be able to reach most clients.

Shes overanalytical, controlling. Overprotective. All in the neurotic spectrum. Mild. Not many sessions.

therapy is helpful even for those who are looking for personal growth, without some form of neurosis

So fun until you made it about you and the lgbt smh go and do research on them clearly we are not the same 😂 make ur own things instead of tearing down what the greats made

I am sorry that you found aspects of the video disconcerting. The discussion on Freud and limitations to his theory are well established. From the time of the development of the DSM-III homosexuality was removed.

Think you might want to look at your need to idealise "the greats" and their biases and prejudices. You do know it's 2024, right? Any counselling and/or psychology course worth its salt will look at the development of models and approaches through the lens of diversity and inclusiveness, which invariably means dismantling shibboleths erected out of ignorance.
