Very informative and educational! I have a Fuji X-T1 converted to IR and Capture One and this really helps me understand some of the techniques for processing. Thanks!

Quite interesting. Can you achieve similar results with an IR lens filter as you can with a physical camera conversion?

For some scenes yes, but using a filter results in a very long exposure, meaning you'll need to use a tripod and shoot scenes with relatively static motion The IR filters are almost black to the human eye.

Hi there. In this tutorial, Troy mentions that he has a converted camera (590nm) but that he uses a filter over the top to go down to 720nm. Do you know what filter he was using? And does this still mean a long exposure would be required, even if the camera has already been converted with a super color 590nm filter? Many thanks.

Hello, You can do a serch on Amazon for "720nm filter" and find very inexpensive IR filters. Adding the 720nm will not change the exposure much if at all. Since the camera is converted to see IR the additioanl filter will appear nearly solid black to our eyes but not to the camera.

Nice, but I do feel compelled to intervene. for faux colour IR, why do you guys swap channels? there is a simpler way, just pull up the hue7sat/lum layer and pull the hue slider totally left or right, there's no difference, bam, faux color infrared without swapping channels. Plus some raw editor have this hue control integrated, DXO and Luminar for example, so that you can do false color with white balance at the same time on a raw file. To summarize: -I hope I did not come across as a total ass. -try this and tell me if it suitable for your work, i'd be hrilled to know -I've managed to spell False and Color 2 different ways in the same comment, go me.
