I am from Chicago and will be purchasing his clothes online and encouraging others to do the same. Thank you for this showcase of talent and black awareness/development. It would be a great idea if he advertises with Dr. Mumbi. She has a wide afrocentric audience from around the world. I wish him the best!

Great content. Like most African Americans I've seen on RU-vid who moved to the continent Who came with big expectations. There's a sense of disappointment like the transition was guaranteed .Each one of the 2 is dealing with their unique traumas which create this big divide. There's a lot to unpack both on a cultural and class level even with Rwandan expatriates . Patience and a lil tenderness would be crucial in navigating this terrain. We only have each other. The big question is a year later , is he still there and is his commitment still strong?

Exactly. What I find is that alot of diaspora do not realize that we were left with a whole puzzle to solve on this side too. But I think it is an understanding and the difference is actually complimentary if you think about it.

I am indigenous American, truth be told, there is something about the Rwandans and indigenous Americans many of us like Rwanda and the Rwandans people we have a lot in common, the Rwandan holocaust and the indigenous black holocaust connects us in a very strange way I support my people for chosen Rwanda if they must leave their indigenous land due to the overwhelming mistreatment we struggle within our own land, Rwanda is the best place to seek refuse for peace, the Rwandans do not stereotype us base on white American lies against us as being bad people nor do they disrespect our culture, we respect the Rwandans culture and embrace it, we understand we are in their house/country and must follow all the laws of their land/country there is no competing with each other just peace and respect for each other. The Rwandans are ready to share and give and we are ready to share and give no one is taking advantage of anyone. I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR THE RWANDANS FOR FOLLOWING THEIR OWN MIND AND NOT FOLLOWING INSTIGATORS FROM OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRY WHO MAY TRY TO START, OR BRING NEGATIVE BETWEEN THEM AND THE INDIGENOUS BLACK AMERICANS, negative people hate seeing people coming together in unity I hope the Rwandan people keep an ear and eye open for any kind of negative. To all so-called black Americans RWANDA IS THE BEST MOVE IF YOU MUST SEEK REFUSE.

Don't take them calling you a Muzungu personally. It's sometimes used on us the natives too to mean that we have changed, mostly in line with financial progress. It's more so when they learn that we have been abroad before. I think they mean well, it's more about admiration than rejection. This is a great video. If possible could you please give us an idea as to where things are , for example where are some of the suburbs that are good for diaporas? how far are the markets, mall, hospital from these suburbs? are there parks, gardens, what is the social life like for families and singles? what is a trip to the market like, what are some pointers or tips for market day? what is the best way to get around? in essence what is available for recreation? where are some places you have gone besides the mountain and the lake? is there a diaporas meeting group, if so how often do they meet and what do they do when they meet? kigali is a big city so where would be good for families to live? where else would be good for diaporas to live besides kigali? your help is appreciated. peace and blessings.

@eng.andrewg.4940
@eng.andrewg.4940 3 года назад
@@nomxhosapekani7966 Honestly, I would say both is the perfect answer. The people are nice, a lot of stuff is happening, the business sector and infrastructure are both growing, but there is still the element of hypocrisy and window dressing, the taxes especially in the corona period have spiked and generally whenever i talk to people they'll tell me making ends meet is generally a hard task. however, personally I recently graduated, it took me 6 months to get a corporate job, and most of my friends basically hustle and make it, so i think it comes down to the personality, i see go getters from abroad making it and living happily. maybe what i can add, a lady recently moved from Uganda to Kigali citing the security, the clean city, and the calm neighbourhoods, nice for raising a family. regarding the night life. rwandans generally like bars. with nice beers and fun people, however its not as crazy as Nairobi or kampala, people will basically sit all night in bars drinking and enjoying their time. regarding accomodation, $400 can get you a nice well fenced 3 bedroom house in a good neighborhood and around $40000 can buy that same house. I think the average pay for new graduates is around 250000frw, around $300/month. I hope my reply helps out.
@davidthiwa1073
@davidthiwa1073 3 года назад
A bit of both and very dependant on what you would be working what kind of business you're in. I live and work as a junior doctor in Germany and am thinking of going back to continue my specialization/residency. They have very good teaching but pretty lousy pay. So I'm trying to have the best of both. Hit me up if you need more info.

One thing that irks me. There are people that are from just about any country in Africa that will say this is what Africa/Africans need, but don’t think about what they can give in return. It’s like seeking to be in a very one-sided relationship. Some comments come off as very patronising and it’s just not a good way to be. I think we all get the fact that the continent and it’s people have been taken advantage of(for a lack of better words) and that’s terrible. However to grow up in a system that was never meant for you to freely exist or to always be marginalized for the sack of a ruling class is a mental torture that very few would understand, so at the very least saying welcome to the place that should have been your home and trying to invite us inside from the cold would go a long way.

@@tamikog7645 i guess that as a rwandan the problem i have seen with Rwandans is that they cant be real with foreigners. But that is just on my side and its not all of them but most of them.

take a shot for every time Allen says "you know". You will be hospitalised or dead. Anyways, amazing work. It is exactly what I want to do, come back to Africa from Europe and start a business and employ rwandese people and help build the country. I am from Djibouti but I chose rwanda because it is an amazing country. It is a country that is more action than empty talk in moving forward.

Wait... they use the same word to describe African Americans or black people from the Diaspora as they do others?😨... that is important information to know.

No they don't! If you send Beyonce she will be seen as Muzungu coz of her skin tone and hair. But if you send Solange her sister she will be seen as one of us, I know it's weird but that's how it is in Africa. As long as you are of mixed race you are seen as white(Muzungu) just like in West they see a person of mixed race as a black! For eg. Obama is black in America but in Africa he will be seen as white, because not 100% black! But I hope things will change as black Americans or other Caribbeans keep visiting Africa, and people be sensible to know what they ignore.. Maybe🙁

I'm sorry but what occurred there 25 years ago gives me nightmares. I find it hard to believe that those poor souls are at peace. They are still finding mass graves of genocide victims and those that were convicted usually only got 10 years and many are back out in society. Plus, there's still conflict with Tutsi, Hutus in exile and Congolese people. Hutus still have hatred for Kagame, who's to say it won't happen again. I just feel like violence could still break out. Let's hope Kagame can keep the peace. God bless his soul and the people of Rwanda. I wouldn't mind visiting but living, I couldn't do it.

@eddie b Well put. Considering the White Domestic Terrorists in America trying to start a race war, things might pop up there more likely than in Rwanda. Rwanda is making strides but haters in Europe and America have to always weigh in with their unsolicited opinions, as though they have anything constructive rather than parasitic, to offer Africa.

Truth, it genocide project executed in America(Indigenous Andes), Armenia, Namibia (Nama&Herero), Europe (the holocaust), Bosnia, Cambodia and Rwanda. May the departed souls rest in peace. For us living better reconcile with the past and rebuild for the better tomorrow.
