Excellent job explaining how toners work. Mastering the color wheel is essential to being a colorist. To all the bright new stylist, make this a video to watch over and over and take notes. Don’t be embarrassed to pull out the wheel for reference. Clients love to see how you can figure it out. 😘👍

Can I still use toner on my hair even after I’ve used a dark blonde dye, it is still really coppery but not as bright orange as it was with just the bleach.

Best explanation I’ve seen out of hundreds of videos. Also, can you tone box die hair color ? I used a box die and my roots are orange.

I just started working at a salon that uses shades EQ, which is for some reason so complex to me (used joico // wella before) thank you for this breakdown !!!

I wanted to go from box dye / adore black to light bright , bleached it to bring the black out it turned hints of ash green , I’ve also stripped the color using colourb4, should I put in a red rinse before applying the brown dye it’s a brown dye similar to your brown ?

My hair turned out light orange on my roots and copper orange on lengths and I have blond highlights from a year ago- would t14 and 20 developer work for me and how long should I leave it on for?

What do you recommend from redken shades to tone golden/yellow tones level 8-9?

It's well explained but i have a question. So i was light brown naturally with gold undertones when I was in my early twenties..then i started coloring my hair the last time i saw my natural color a few years ago it was a very ashy dirty blonde my skin pale with red undertones but my veins blue and purple which is cool...right...so then what is my best fit? 🤣 wow im so complicated. I was red for few years i loved it but now im a process in a changes and im not sure what color i like on me. Any suggestions? I do not want to go darker then a lever 7

Hi If someone is a natural level 3 base and want to add some dimension, if they lift their hair with Lightner to a level 5/6 can they then add a level 5 toner? Or do they have to lift their hair to level 9/10 first? Or do you just need to lift to the level you want to tone to? Thank you

What if I want to neutralize a color only in part? For example, I lift the hair to a red/orange colour, I want to tone them to obtain a warm chocolate with a slight red undertone. Should I use blue-green anyway?

so for me i have bright red hair right now and i wanted a dark red like red velvet/blood red and someone told me to use a level 7 or 6 toner depending on how dark i want the red. but is that the case? i cant see how a toner could work on a bright red color (its literally almost like ronald McDonald and ariel combined). i was thinking to use the wells 7NN toner but im not 100% sure or if there are better options for me to get dark red.

my stylist used different toners in my hair after my 2nd time bleaching. now my hair is 3 different colours, im getting it bleached again but really am not satisfied with my multi coloured blonde hair and im not really sure why she did it.

hi so I have a question if I have a friend who is a level 2-3 and was using a conditioning shampoo to make her hair darker and it eventually turned green , to fix that I can use a toner with a level 2-3 that has some red to cancel that out ?? Is that correct?😅

My hair is going to white as I age, I want platinum blonde. After my hairdresser blondes my hair out, adds a toner but it ends up ash colored! It looks gray! What is going wrong? I don't want ash!

Thank you. I’m pretty frustrated lol. I paid $200 bucks for some highlights (I initially wanted an ombre effect on my bobcut, but the hair dresser convinced me to do highlights). I ended up with very blonde highlights on my very dark hair even tho I told him I didn’t want too mich blonde. I’m so mad lol. I’ll just tone it down at home with Redken and hopefully try the ombre again in a few months with another stylist 🥴🙏🏽

I bleached my hair (bleach bath) and I have some patchy banana yellow with orange. I’m going ginger so I don’t mind the orange but I need to cancel the orange. I tried toning it with Wella T14 because that was suggested to me. But it did nothing. Pls help! I just want my hair to be my undertone (orangey gold). I just need an even base.

6 months ago my hairdresser did a subtle balayage that came out caramel color which I loved. This time she suggested going up since my hair had grown and I asked if she could do an ashy blonde color but instead it came so dark and she even said “I think I overtoned it”which she tried to convince me it would eventually wash out.. she had another client coming so she didn’t have time to correct it. I’m not happy And wish I hadn’t scheduled the appointment in the first place. Thanks to your video I now understand what went wrong…😕any suggestions on how to lighten it at home or at least get rid of some green I see in some areas?
