Despite it all, I do like how Asriel talks like that. It’s a serious flaw of his that shows off his severe naivety as well. Also his hypocrisy. He’s a deeply flawed character, just like his parents. Tho unlike Asgore and Chara, doesn’t get called out on it.

i mean. to be fair, flowey probably does view clover as a friend to some extent. he said 'see you later, friend' (or something to that effect, i haven't seen that scene in a minute so forgive me if it's not word for word) to clover as they were dying from giving up their soul, and reassured them that he wouldn't reset their efforts, which there would be no point in doing if he just wanted to manipulate them (clover was dying and flowey didn't think they'd come back, and they wouldn't remember this moment if he reset anyways). then again, it could just be that clover's sacrifice was reminding flowey of chara poisoning themself, and his gesture of 'empathy' was out of old sentimentality instead of any actual friendship between him and clover, but y'know.
