I feel like I should say this… Frisk may be portrayed as their own character, but they’re really just an avatar for the player to live in the Undertale world. In other words, certain ships are only really illegal if the player is a minor. (Frisk is basically Y/N.) I had to think about this for awhile before I put it into words, so I hope it makes sense…
The playable character (Frisk and Kris) has, and ALWAYS be depicted as a child. In the dialogue they are described as ‘child’ or called ‘kid/kiddo’. :)
Technically, Frisk does not have a gender. In the game, they are referred as "Dude" by monster kid and before the true pacifist ending, "they". ... Practically speaking Frisk is called by many monsters a human, so they physically does have one of two sexes: male or female (unless they aren't a human at all).
