Actually, Papyrus is the nicest character. Sans is a good guy and all but he only tried to befriend you because Tori asked him to watch over you, and he thought appealing to the anomaly (which is you) would make you stop resetting. Otherwise he would have killed you. He casually threatens you in the pacifist runs. Papy is the only character that can never kill you and believes there's good in you even when you're killing him.
Agreed pretty much. Papyrus is the most innocent and least selfish character in the game. Only thing separating him from Frisk is that Papyrus still has a killer instinct which Frisk does not (or at least naturally does not). And I would say that the character with the worst intentions is actually Toriel. Moments after meeting you she wants to trap you in her house...forever. IMO that is more selfish than anything Chara can do, at least with Chara you have the chance of killing him/her. Also you do a date sequence with Toriel either.
Joelsuf I disagree. Toriel has good intentions, she just went about it the wrong way in the beginning. She just wanted to protect you from getting killed because she knew you would die, and in a way she is right. Every character except for Papyrus tries to kill you and Asgore would have killed you. She realizes that she was wrong to try to keep you in the ruins and lets you go if you spare her. She continues to protect you both directly and indirectly throughout the game. She's just a lonely, protective mother who is mourning the loss of several children she cared for that were killed. She's not selfish or evil. It's extremely messed up to compare her to Chara, who kills everyone and wants to destroy the world. The only truly evil character is Chara. Goat mom and goat dad dont deserve any hate.
I completely agree, Papyrus is probably the purest monster in that game. But I think it's kind of funny that you said he "casually" threatens you. I don't know why, but something about him announcing with black, pupil-less eyes that "you'd be dead where you stand" doesn't scream "casual" to me, lol.
Des She does that after you stand there getting hit with attack after attack after attack however. And you change her mind after sparing her. The fact that you must engage her in a fight before leaving the ruins is testament to her selfish overprotection. Never forget the unintended consequences of good intentions. While it is true that Chara has the worst intentions of all of the characters, at least his/her intentions match up with the actions he/she takes. Toriel has good intentions but is hypocritical in her actions.
Genocide? You are the monster. You became stronger in a world where power isn't needed. You chose curiosity over morals. The game gave you potential friends, and you threw it away for power and wealth. You lost control of the game because you don't deserve a world that you destroyed. Neutral? You played the game the same way you would play any other RPG. You had the power to spare monsters or hunt them all down, and you ignored that focus. You don't deserve satisfaction for doing the same thing you would elsewhere. Reset, try again. Pacifist? You choose to tolerate monsters, no matter how different they are. You aren't strong, but you don't need to be. You build bridges where some would build walls. You endure any suffering, and in the end, you aren't alone. You have a better future, and so do the people who met you.
Or it can be seen like this, Genocide/Neutral run: My character is a human child trapped all alone in world full of monster who constantly keep threatening me on wanting to kidnap me, kill me, take my soul and destroy humanity. These monsters blame humanity for starting the war when it's very possible the monsters are just as much to blame for themselves being trapped underground and the reason was because humans became afraid of them after discovering the fact that these monsters had the ability to take humans souls whether alive or dead (which humans wouldn't agree with anyways regardless) and can use the soul for whatever they want, to which is possible that these monsters could have very well abused this ability. I am being called a monster for defending myself and possibly humanity. Pacifist run: I am still a monster, none of the characters really want to know your name or give you credit for the progress that you have made, instead it all goes to Frisk a character with no identity, personality, or flaws, just like many other video game characters such as Red, Gold/Ethan, and Link who are all depended on the player to get them through everything. The Pacifist route expects me to show love, forgivness, mercy, to even the worst of the monsters even though they wanted to kill me and destroy humanity, but they never want to know your own flaws even after the horrible stuff that you yourself has done, with no mercy, forgivness, or redemption given to me after doing the Genocide run, instead I get my soul taken, lets also not forget that these monsters have themselves took 6 souls of innocent children, last I checked Children are of innocents and if anyone attacked these monsters then they were in the right because how else do you expect a 6 to 10 year old to survive a world where everyone is trying to kill them. TV Tropes website stated that Genocide can't even be called a genocide path because your not killing for no reason, instead everyone is getting in your way, attacking, and trying to kill you.
I hear a lot of people complain about the Sans fight and how it's purely memory and awful. But that's the point. The game punishes you for the awful things you've done by making you sit there, being annihilated over and over and over till you give up. The fight is the greatest test of your DETERMINATION
+What am i Why am i Nah. Omega Sans with all souls absorbed. That's the most difficult one. Especially since the human souls will help Sans. So yea gg.
+Logan J It is exactly YOUR determination. Not Charas. YOU the player need to be determined to finish the genocide run. Same with Frisk. YOU the player are determined to play through those long hours of the pacifist route, and YOU the player are determined to experience the happy ending. This game breaks the fourth wall so much, that YOU the player are a major part of the game.
That reminds me of this story I've read: Inside of all of us, there is a battle between two wolves. One was all the negatives of humanity, and the other was all the positives. Which one wins, you ask? The one you feed.
Holy shit, I knew undertale had a dark side known as the genocide run but holy shit, i had no idea that the worst ending is pacifist ending after genocide.... oh god....
Not after genocide. Its the WORST.because in genocide you cannot get past the barrier making you stuck at the underground.but in post genocide pacifist, there are no barriers at all.letting you kill humans too.
I played undertale back in the days which is in 2016 but the game was released around september of 2015 and when i tried playing it for the 1st time... I LITERALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING!
it's a shame so many people wont give this game a real chance. i was almost one of those people. i mean, i was pretty pissed off when i killed goatmom on accident. that frog fed me a god damned red hearing it's not my fault.
Whoa, I did NOT see all of these replies... what have I gotten myself into? I don't _want_ to get a notification every time this stupid argument continues!
+geepersgaming88 just ignore the damn little bitch Chara by not doing Genocides, or wait until a patch is set, that allows you to save Chara in a super Pacifist mode. And that's how you truly win the game.
Chara is in the Pacifist and neutral run, she's the narrator, how else would we know all the information about all the monsters like their attack and defense levels.
But then we would have to question do humans have ghosts in the undertale world because the closest thing that we've seen that is like a human ghost is a human SOUL and the monster ghosts so maybe it is the observations of our character?
@@lancer386 Chara's soul is what attached itself to "Frisk" when they fell down on Chara's deathbed. It was your determination that woke Chara up in the first place, but Chara is for sure the narrator as when you look at yourself in the mirror they say something like, "Despite everything it's still you" and then a final time they state, "It's you, Chara" in the same font/text as everything else that is narrated.
I have a confession . . . Out of everything of horror I have seen, Chara scares me the most. I need a personal jumpscare warning for whenever Chara comes on a screen x.x
I'm actually in waterfall right now in my genocide run, but it's literally my 5th run, so no, i'm literally resetting, i don't want THAT animal being reincarnated in my game and ruining reality.
NameNoMatter Well, chara is the first child's name, the first one that fell down in the underground, after she died, she was buried in the exact same spot where she fell, and they put some golden flowers on top of the grave, so yeah, in the intro, you see a girl fall down, but when you look at the ground, there are no flowers, so yeah, we'v seen how chara kinda looked like in cinematic cutscene.
SPOILER ALERT READ THIS IF YOU PLAYED THE GAME Chara is not one who killed Flowey, they are one who hesitated, you see at the end Chara gains half of control over Frisk. Like many think "Villan of the game is Chara" is wrong "You are villan of the game" is one that is true. You started to kill everyone. Chara who was awaken by your determination when we fell on their grave (toriel took Charas body when she returned to the Ruins and baryed them there), now they were dead for a while and now think from their perspective; you wake up atatched to some stranger who you have to follow, they start killing everyone you ever knew untill it is all you know, eventualy you will lose your mind and not know anything else. (and chara being narator of the game is canon, how, well in toriels home when you look in the mirror once reads "Its you" twice "Despite everything, its still you" and if you do it once more it reads "Its me, Chara". And havent you noticed there was no text when you killed Toriel and Asgore? Well great job on killing por childs adopted parents they loved, no wonder they hated humanity. And those clips at the end, well they are your punishment, so you never forget what you did! Hope that this explains it, thank you if you actualy read this!
So we were wondering, who's your favorite Undertale character? Let us know in the comments below, and maybe Chara won't rip your soul from your lifeless body tonight.
I've heard people say that undertales lesson is confusing, as it seems to shame you for playing an RPG as an RPG. But to me it makes perfect sense. You cant just kill people in real life just because you can
In a RPG, monsters are savagge irrational beasts, mostly. In Undertale, well, you just need to read the flavour text, those monsters aren't really "attacking" you, Froggit for example just jumps close to you, Woshua tries to wash you, Snowdrake wants to tell a joke, etc.
Also when Frisk was in bed and his eyes turned red In was looking firmly at the thumbnail of another video in case there was another jumpscare. More nightmares.
Why do people say they cried when they killed toriel and why do they have such an emotional bond to these characters now I love sans and PAPYRUS but there just video game characters that are not real
+starwars90001 Not really. If anything the spoilers fueled my interest to experience it by myself. And even with that kind of spoiler I don't think this video even scratched the surface of all things you can find out in this game.
The thing said about how Chara has been freed to destroy the Monster World if one plays Genocide--as I see it, that wasn't what was meant: To me, the corruption of what would be happy endings are a message to the player that no matter what they do, their evil deeds will *always* be a part of them, inescapable...
10:50 * I remember what we did together, partner. *** *That was fun.* *** *Let's finish the job.* *** *Monsters. Humans. Everyone.* *** *8 billion+ left.* =)
a weird guy Non * Me? * It was you who pushed everything to its edge. * It was you who led the world to its destruction. * It was you who gave me your SOUL * But you cannot accept it. * You think you are above consequences.
I still haven't played UnderTale but I seen all endings and seen alot of vids on it I vote it 10/10 best game of the year Creator Toby Fox well don't you got the achievement BEST GAME OF THE YEAR. Scott Cawthon your second Notch third and JonBro your fourth
My theory is that at the end of the genocide run, in Chara's monologue, they're not talking to Frisk. They've taken over Frisk's body, and they're talking to *you* , the player, because they know that you were behind the genocide run.
Hey, I had the same thoughts too! Except about that whole thing: Chara takes over Frisk's body...but now that I think about it...it kinda makes sense? I mean, in the end, we don't see Frisk there. Just Chara and...us, the Player. I'll keep this in mind! :D
+SapFireMC sans is a glass canon where as asgore is tank. Just because sans does more damage(over time) doesn't mean he is more powerful. Actually, Undyne the undying is waaaaay more powerful than both of them.
soulless pacifist is not the worst ending. IT's the best. Chara doesn't kill anything in the human world, flowey says so when you reboot the game after that ending, they're all happy. That or toby fox forgot to change flowey's dialog after a souless pacufust and let it be the same as a true pacifist .
+GDKsan ALso the kid in the intro is not chara but really frisk. You know it cause frisk falls on accident on the hole while chara did it on their own volition (most likely to commit suicide) as told by asriel when you go back way at the beginning after destroying the barrier.
+GDKsan Wrong.Notice the number of stripes on the kid's shirts. Frisk has two while Chara has only one.Now see the kid in the intro.See how many stripes the kid has on their shirt? What's that?Only one?YEP IT'S CHARA! Also Chara doesn't kill anything in the human world?Ummmmm YES THEY DO!They kill all the monsters and suposedly the humans too
GDKsan Yes he does say that...in the pacifist route where Chara REMAINS asleep. In the soulless ending however Chara possesses frisk, escapes the underground and goes on a killing spree.Ever seen the picture of the monsters with their faces crossed out in red? What do you think those crosses mean?
***** But after that ending you restart the game and flowey says everyone is alright so chara wants to kill everyone (hence the crosses) but can't somehow because in the real world they can't do jack. They're just a kid with a knife, can't do shit against a gun.
There are LOADS of endings for neutral. The best one is where White Dog (Toby Fox) becomes president and it just sleeps on the throne all day. Somehow, this is the best ending.
Actually the perfect time to do it is last (after a couple of neutrals and the true pacifist), cuz then it will mean that you have done absolutely everything there is to do in the game.
+Obsession Tale Laughter is how some people deal with stress. Like, example, when you almost kill your dad by accidentally feeding him poisonous flowers.
+- Florelyang - hey she had camera's all over the entire underground to watc- wait was she using them for? and why does she have them locked on you freaking stocker
I baby sit some kids and the eldest one rants about how he LOOOVES undertale but i didn't know what undertale was.... so thats y im here (i also watched other videos) ... and now that i know a little bit more about it, i think to myself... God this kid is lowkey planning a f***ing genocide! This kid jokes around about how hes gonna murder me... i joke around and say "ha thats funny" 😅 but now i think this kid is probably possessed 😂... help me 😨
Actually, it's not chara who killed all those monsters. it was frisk. frisk's determination awoken chara from death. when she woke she was comfused (as said at the end of the genoside run by chara her/him self.) when she saw what frisk/you were doing, she thought it was the right thing to do. after all, frisk is undertales true villain. you pushed the world to it's limit. not chara. chara is getting blamed for everything that you did, because of he/she is the only CHARAacter that you see at the end of the genoside run. also because her interesting backstory.
I agree. But there's one thing that I don't agree. When you said: "frisk is the true villain" well, she/he is the true villain in the genocide, but not in the pacifist.so.. It's a little confusing :/
GamingWithShiri well yea, thats what i meant. frisk is both the villain and the hero. the whole time i was talking about the genocide run. and how chara is has nothing to do with the genocide run (well not really). its just that frisk is the one that pushed the underground to its limit.
Frisk is the seventh human, if Frisk was the eighth human Asgore would have broken the barrier before UnderTale even STARTED, in fact if Frisk was the eighth human the whole plot of UnderTale would be ruined (no pun intended)
Actualy Toriel said that there was only need for one human Soul but Asgore liked the power to have control over the underground so he said there were need for 7 human souls
Other Helen It was a mistake, Chara AND Asriel both thought that buttercups were the flowers named, well, "buttercups". Chara didn't mean to and laughed it off because they felt bad and sad, just like Undyne laughs when she is dieing.
Ask The Human Souls Undertale Thats just speculation. The truth is that Chara represents the player in all runs, stated by Toby Fox. Chara was a bad person because they tried to get Asriel to kill Humans by controlling him. All we know at the moment is Chara IS evil because at the end of the Genocide, they say "Since when were you ever in control" meaning Chara controlled the player during the Genocide run.
Part of me wanted him to go through with the genocide run just so he could get dunked on by Sans and rage quit, but the better part of me is happy that he did the noob run first then the pacifist run.
Joelsuf I am, too. The fact that he actually paid attention to some parts of the story plus the fact that the only times he died were twice to Flowey actually earned him a bit of my respect. That still doesn't mean I'm going to forgive him for the crouch jump incident, though.
Too generalized, FALSE. games aren't necessarily rated depending on the narrative, sometimes games can be purely action-based without any "storyline" or "hidden meaning" but still be AMAZING. p.s: The most popular & successful game ever developed was tetris, followed by minecraft
+- Florelyang - I'm just saying there are those people who for some reason think that because everyone likes something they shouldn't like it people go out of their way to dislike immensely popular things
Well undertale is being forced down my throat, it's the FNAF craze all over again, so what do I do? I go to the Winchester, grab a pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.
(changed mah profile, i was toriel before eheh) I was not aware of the fact that Frisk turned into a zombie when I put my wonderful butterscotch-cinnamon pie in their room...
Chara the Killer Is it because your dead inside? Because I'm too scared to play after I had to reset cause my game wasn't working and I'm not opening the game ever again
8:25 ....Not to be that person, but....I'd like to suggest watching Judgement Boy's "Who's the True Villain of Undertale?" vid to look at another theory behind Chara! :)
Alvyn Antonius Yes, but as new information surfaces things change. Perhaps Chara isn't this symbolic figure of everyone's inner evil or whatever. Maybe people just want a scapegoat....and Chara was the perfect choice.
"The Story You Never Knew" and by that you mean "The story you would know if you just did some googling and completed all routes" "The story thats not a secret that 75% people know already"
who knew that sans means without? So sans and Papyrus are bros if Papyrus dies sans is without Papyrus hes turns really crazy with his eye thing. And if Papyrus doesn't die then sans isn't without Papyrus. So not only sans is a font but also a meaning...
For some reason, I don't get scared by either Chara's Jumpscare and Frisk's evil laughing... I just start crying after some chills like something was ripped of from me. Maybe it was the "You feel your sins crawling on your back" thing...
