I think it's really cool that, in floweys mind, he believes that even when he ascends to godhood he'll still visibly look like himself. He takes all these surreal forms, but he's still a flower. It's a neat contrast to how he actually looks when he absorbs the souls in undertale, turning into a monster that barely even resembles a plant anymore. It's like even he couldn't comprehend how much he'd change once he absorbed the souls
maybe im reading too much into it, but it almost seems like a trauma response. In the genocide monologue as well as the 'memory lane' in this boss fight show, Asriel is horrified to discover that he's become a flower. This new form comes to represent his emotionlessness, the contorting of a pleasant object into something horrific(sidenote but I think the specimen sequences add to it, as they're all based on children's activities 'gone wrong,' like papercrafts and clay and video game aesthetics.) And in his mind, where he has true freedom, all he's done is lean in- every one of his attacks is based on his appearance as a flower. There's no Chaos Saber, no God of Hyperdeath, just a reallyyyy fucked up flower.

Never thought that the scariest i'd ever see flowey become was during a neutral route. And the fact he did it all because he grew bored of our choices makes it even more unsettling. He is UNHINGED in this game, he just doesn't show it so long as he controls your story

it seems like he didn't have much power of his own when he turned into omega flowey, so he relied on the souls themselves to attack. i'm sure if he had more control over the soul power he'd do something of this extent
Honestly, this fight is even better than the Omega Flowey fight. It feels FAR scarier than the one from Undertale, Flowey somehow looks even more messed up, the attacks feel out of place, which honestly is good for a fight like this, and both phases are great.

I love how peacefully _dreadful_ this sounds the soft, windy instrument in the background, and the cheery chiptune sounds, all lightly distorted and in a slightly unnerving key. Truly does feel like Flowey is taunting you at this moment. He's won. It sounds exactly like it's presented in game- you thought you were safe, when suddenly Flowey reveals he found you again, and leads you right to his *massive, grinning face,* staring down at you. It feels like a calm, happy victory, but not for you. You finally get a break, but you can't feel safe as a giant threat looms right above you, staring right into your soul with its teeth bared in malice. good job UT Yellow, 11/10!!!
it's not in an unnerving key, it's literally not in _any_ key. it doesn't fit into any mode- I know because I tried my best to recreate it in BeepBox. it's both minor and major, it just. doesn't work. it's so fitting
I feel like this song perfectly captures the essence of the neutral route finale from start to end. It's such a demented and hopeless sounding song. Just like Clover. They can't escape, nor they can win. It's established from the moment Flowey captures their soul: they are doomed. It just feels sad. You as the player don't feel much but even YOU can feel the emotions seeping from this song. Clover is in complete despair, knowing damn well that this flower is NOT going to let them spend a second without suffering. It's like the song is supposed to be what plays in their head on loop: their "best friend"'s theme, who is now going to enjoy torturing them forever. The whole "Please, resist" line makes it even more apparent. As much as the fight is fun and AFTERLIFE is a banger, Clover can only fruitlessly struggle and pray for a better fate until Flowey finally gets bored of them.
This fucking scene, GOD I love it, it really shows how much of a VILE monster Flowey is, he isn't above any underhanded tricks at all...and worst of all...he's totally in control. Cuz he absorbed your souk, on og UT, it shows how strong he is if he attacks by surprise, beating asgore, almost u in the tutorial, and clover right there didn’t get beaten but instead his soul got absorbed so he’d normally be unalive but cuz he’s too determined, his soul is alive
The fact this all takes place in Flowey's imagination shows how truly twisted he is. This is all just a game to him and only when he gets bored is when Clover wins. After all, how does one beat a hurricane? Either by getting out of its way or bunkering down. In one word: SURVIVE.
this shit was terrifying. MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR NEUTRAL ROUTE vvv . . . Martlet's face when she goes to hug you on that certain frame, is absolutely gut-wrenching. never have i thought a character i endear so much would be so subtly horrifying, the way she talks feels off, the way you're in a weird-glitchy boss fight with someone who you probably trusted, for chosing the safe route which was going to stay with Martlet. This game is so damn peak, I wish I could replay it again for the first time.

Martlet is my favorite character in all of Undertale Yellow, so when I was in that snowding vision and I saw Martlet for a moment I felt a slight relief, but when I saw in a frame that her face was distorted I knew it wasn't her until she turned into an amorphous mass in front of my eyes... after seeing that... I didn't want justice... I WANTED REVENGE!!!

I love the way yellow handles it’s measurements on power and ability between this game and actual undertale, sans is arguably stronger than martlet yet it doesn’t feel like they do too much or too little to make her feel on the same level of ability in the atmosphere, the same goes for Ceroba, despite the fact that Asriel hell even asgore is stronger they manage to give that same feeling of a climactic all for nothing final struggle that was to be the greatest fight of your lives. While omega flowey is actually stronger, here your already dead, here where you stand is where flowey is even stronger than the omega flowey fight, like a fight against someone in their dream that has grown lucid, your in his true mindset, his perception on how things work, no where to run and flee, unable to speak or plea, can only dodge and strike, flow and throw, hit or be hit, strike or be stricken, claim or be claimed, fight or be fought, hurt or be hurt, *Kill or Be Killed.*
That harmony with the wind instruments really strikes me in this OST. Forlorn music, building up to Flowey revealing himself: dead yet so full of power. The eight-bit chiptune melody is ethereal, like blasting an air horn in a dream. It adds so much to Flowey and the ending as a whole.

i love the grandiose, circus-y sound of this track. its very fitting of flowey, and is an interesting reminder of how this whole sequence is more or less for his own entertainment, sort of like it's a grand performance in a circus.
Now , this is a true boss fight of undertale . You can say that flowey is here treated like he should have , like for example Ganondorth or Bowser . After seeing to many sans fight this feels refreshing , daspite tha fact that we KNOW it would happen .
When I hear this song, I can imagine Asriel standing in the null zone near every alternative universe talking with Frisk about what they both have created with their determination
This fight really puts the power of the DETERMINATION soul into proportion. Without it, Clover gets toyed with, since Flowey can do anything he wants with the timeline against Clover's Just wishes...which don't really amount to much against Flowey's DETERMINATION in the slightest.

My point was Clover's determination being less than Flowey's, not anything to do with the color red. Plus, red souls DO have more determination than others. The power to determine.

Deal gone wrong is lower pitched, it feels like the mistakes you’ve made have finally made you realize the monster you’ve set loose, while ‘gotcha;)’ sounds more like you’ve stumbled into the trap of what once was thought to be your friend, was a horrific sadistic monster the entire time, and now you have to face them.
If I had a nickel for every time a song that perfectly encapsulates existential dread came out this year that I really love but think is way too short, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice. (This and “Your New Home” from the Amazing Digital Circus).
for some reason, i get Random Gods energy from this one. i guess both fit where one godlike being is actively aggressive and one is passive, if somewhat irritable, towards the player.
Probably the instruments, Random Gods and gotcha ;) both have very discordant tones. And I honestly love that! The discord of Random Gods is both desperate and foreboding, after all, you are about to or are meeting a god. As for gotcha ;) it's discord is intimidating and insane, in a way. You're at Floweys mercy, he could kill you in an instant, but he doesn't.
yeah even musically they're super similiar, although totally different atmospheres a lot of Flowey's dialogue in both Yellow and vanilla undertale in his meta/omega forms really reminds me of stuff 5P would say to the player in Rain World
I am commenting on every single song of the Undertale Yellow Soundtrack playlist! (Read this knowing I discovered, explored and played Deltarune (in 2021) before Undertale (in 2022), which to the current day of this comment I have only watched the entirety of, but not actually played. Hence why I assume that I like Deltarune more than Undertale, because it was personal and... new, in a way, but can still feel what I would call a "fake" nostalgia from Undertale despite that). I played Undertale Yellow one time. My playthrough went across from 10/12/2023 to 26/12/2023, during a total of 15-16 days. I played it, aimed for the best, and got True Pacifist. When I finish it, I tell Flowey to wait. And get off the computer for the day. Some days pass by, and I finally start watching a True Pacifist route on YT. Some days pass by again, and I gain the courage to watch the not-so-dark path, and then the truly dark path. Some time passes once again, and I finally watch the end offered by Flawed Pacifist. The blindlight fades out. H O W D Y . Clover stares in absolute horror at Flowey. Flowey looks down on Clover, grinning. Holy HELL! What has this turned into?! Despite how much he may change in his sadistc forms, that smile will always be the key. The iconicity of it will never go away. It will linger on, and on, and on, and on and on andonandonand Seriously, what a mad design! Flowey keeps pulling out all of the stops! The insane expression, the colors, the absurdity of it all! The realistic teeth are probably what gets me the most. In fact, the realistic aspect of Meta Flowey as a whole (I think that's the name that people made up for him. Fits decently) is what makes it unsettlingly distinct. Not only is it jumpscare material when you see it the first time, but it's also just good horror-effective! The humanoid teeth and micro pupils are what supports the pillar of madness, as well as the aesthetic of this monstrosity! It looks like he's covered, no, he is MADE of piles of cobwebs! You could say it is dust, since all of those failed tries of Flowey seem to be made of the same material (it's really strange to say "material" because this is all probably happening on a psychological metaphysical hellscape), but I'd say that being made of cobwebs is not only more plausible, since when I look at the lanky vines that are expanding from Flowey's head, I mostly see web extensions, but I also think it contributes to the horror factor! This might be very personal, but I absolutely despise cobwebs. And that's not even because of the spiders themselves that might crawl out from their nest. Cobwebs are obnoxious, even without their owners. They are awfully sticky, to the point where just having them attached to my body when I'm trying to clean them out makes me feel uncomfortable. They are practically harmless, but they just cause me an annoying sense! My reaction is always "getitoutgetitoutgetitout", even though there is literally no danger, it's all... psychological. That parallels with Clover, doesn't it? They are a fly in a web. Ready to be consumed by Flowey's arachnid vines. It's a symbolic way to look at it, and I quite like it for how cleverly it was implemented! And now, the confrontation that is reasonably drawn from the point that Flowey reveals himself: Photoshop Flowey vs. Meta Flowey. From a design perspective, that is. Photoshop Flowey is jam-packed with nonsensical design choices, purposely made to bother you with all of its colours and drastic realism. I'm afraid that Meta Flowey doesn't quite reach this level. Omega Flowey is iconic because he feels bizarre and out-of-place for the world he inhabits, in a standard that exceeds Meta Flowey quite decently. Don't get me wrong, I love Meta Flowey's appearance, his realistic face is still one to appreciate very much. I just don't think it reaches THAT status (which is totally understandable, not everyone can class out a masterpiece) I will say though, for how much discomfort that Photoshop Flowey's freakish body gives, Meta Flowey's facial area (hell if I know what this guy considers a "face") pays off tremendously well! I can't blame people for actually sympathizing with this song! It's the best one out of these last (purposefully) empty tracks, for a good reason: the combination of the reveal of Meta Flowey and a brand new mix of "Your Best Friend", made to suit this new perspective on Flowey. And the instruments used in here fit so well! They sound hollow, but not in an empty way. They are full, full of lunacy! It's the musical embodiment of a nightmare beyond comprehension, a creature too outlandish to comprehend, colossal enough to tall over you with its menacing glare. I won't even try to guess the name of the instrument that is being played throughout the song. It reminds, though, of those circus horns, which I think makes perfect sense, since y'know, circus, clowns, craziness, it segways into Flowey's personality pretty well, it reinforces his insanity (both his inner insanity and the visual insanity that he just unlocked through this form). Not only that, but the "circus horns" are a good addition to the original bit tune that is also played during "gotcha ;)" (what a great name by the way. Even the smiley face as a mocking technique ;), which in turn comes directly from "Your Best Friend", just slower and with a lower pitch than the beta jingle. This is just a perfect remix of that rudimentary pitchy bit tune! It has more instruments, it has atmosphere! Both tunes are representative of a flower, two VERY different flowers, however. Even the glitchy ending part, symbolizing that, maybe... none of what's happening is actually real. Flowey's maniacal laughter traverses the blackened river. Despite the new appearance, he's still the same irritable flower, ridiculing Clover for thinking they had escaped his vines for good. In reality, it was all a game. A game of catch. The withered flower confesses about the times that staying alongside Clover was worth watching... "Most of the time you were insufferable but when you gave in... gave in to your true violent urges. That was the best part." In their last piece of mind, Clover debates if it was all really worth it. However, for some unknown reason, when trying to recall the morality of their acts, Clover spaces out. As if... those memories aren't present anymore. It must be due to Flowey's mighty control over them and their mind... right...? Whatever Flowey is talking about, it seemed to make him realize Clover's strength, his possible capability to reach Asgore... if they didn't had other objectives in mind. One thing both friends can agree on: Clover's barely recognisable. The body they thought they had back, it was all a pathetic delusion. Does their body even exist, by this point? Their mind, too, has been messed with. All that is left is a shadow. A shadow covered in the justice of the fallen human, their last-standing trait. Or, in Flowey's eyes, the judgment, the consequence they can't escape from (isn't it neat that supposedly Flowey has yellow petals ;). Flowey pauses for a moment, as if he was expecting a response from Clover. Silence is the only response. Flowey retorts with the continuation of his speech, even more excited than before. He reveals the intention to keep his and Clover's fun to last even longer, until he eventually grows tired of the incessant torture against the human child. He will absorb their SOUL and leave them to rot in the void, storm Asgore's castle, and not only take his SOUL over, but the SOULs of all of the fallen children, the ones that needed justice delivered, the ones who Clover was going to rescue from Monsterkind's reign. Clover tries to wield an expression of disdain. This hellish monster is far from that, however. For now, a wish must be granted. A god's feast is ready to be served in various grey plates. The feast will go on as long as the god wants.
