I’m surprised I’m not seeing more people mention how well the Justice leitmotif is used here. Not only does it obviously represent that Clover truly needs to deliver justice now more than ever, but more importantly, it foreshadows their eventual fate. I honestly have such a love for the Justice theme and leitmotif because it’s not just *a* theme, it’s *Clover’s* theme. This is the first time (I know of in Undertale) a human character has a theme that can express said character’s “character”, they’re part of the action and are feeling the gravity of the situation and are thinking of said event. It’s so nice to hear every time.

Like yeah before it was a fun experience with nice characters but this was the breaking point where I genuinely got hooked to the story. The song is just *chefs kiss* for how short and quick its appearance is. Kind of makes me wish the game had a happier ending where we could have soent more time with the characters but we all knew this was coming. It's cool how In this pre-ceroba's house cutscene we can see how Martlet character evolved. At the start, in our first meeting, in the Dunes she always make troubles (mostly for herself), she's confused and distracted. Martlet said that she will follow Clower - she leaves him, say that she will help us - going to the jail 15 minutes later. But at the end, when she saw a real threat for Clover's life, Martlet takes all the responsibility for him, convince Ed and all four that she's really can handle this situation, that she will stop Ceroba and don't let she to take her hands on Clover. I think its lack of this kind of character changes in the original Undertale, it's waaaay better shows how our actions changes lifes of monster that we meet in our journey than "oh thanks for your kindness you is my friend now - and don't even appears till the end of only one of the game's routes" thing from original UT

I am commenting on every single song of the Undertale Yellow Soundtrack playlist! (Read this knowing I discovered, explored and played Deltarune (in 2021) before Undertale (in 2022), which to the current day of this comment I have only watched the entirety of, but not actually played. Hence why I assume that I like Deltarune more than Undertale, because it was personal and... new, in a way, but can still feel what I would call a "fake" nostalgia from Undertale despite that). I played Undertale Yellow one time. My playthrough went across from 10/12/2023 to 26/12/2023, during a total of 15-16 days. I played it, aimed for the best, and got True Pacifist. When I finish it, I tell Flowey to wait. And get off the computer for the day. Some days pass by, and I finally start watching a True Pacifist route on YT. Some days pass by again, and I gain the courage to watch the not-so-dark path, and then the truly dark path. Some time passes once again, and I finally watch the end offered by Flawed Pacifist. A voice is heard, shouting. "And what are you planning to do at the Lab?" It's Starlo, with Ed following right behind. Ceroba gets nervously startled upon seeing her friend. Star responds that he and the rest of the feisty gang were preparing a celebration for Kanako's arrival, to which Ceroba agrees and confusingly praises such a move from the sheriff. Starlo resumes, saying that they decided such an event could take place in Ceroba's old residence, place that would fit right in with the return of Kanako, too. Quiet at the side, Clover listens closely, wondering if they had ever passed through such residence in their journey. No place comes to their mind. The sheriffarmer rapidly turns to Ed, to present what they found in the house. Stumbling, Ed makes note of an entrance, some sort of trapdoor on the floor, almost invisible to the naked eye. The sheriff turns to Ceroba once more, in a more serious and lower tone, questioning the situation, as well as Kanako's whereabouts. Ceroba gets visibly uncomfortable with the question, facing the ground and mumbling to herself too quietly for any of the three to hear. Star takes charge in the conversation, pressing his friend even more, but making sure not to raise his tone to not worsen an already seemingly problematic situation. The lady steps back in apprehension, looking out of options. She orders Clover to follow her and, in the blink of an eye, dashes to the elevator, shutting the in Starlo's face, who was trying to get a hold of the kitsune. With no luck, the sheriffarmer shouts in anger, quickly pressing the elevator control panel. Not even double-thinking, Star orders Ed to take Clover to the Wild East, back to safety, to which Ed obeys. With a strangely nostalgic sensation, the last thing Clover sees is the sheriff jumping into the elevator in a rush, as they get dragged by the strength of a dozen monsters. Held at the Wild East (again), Clover finds themselves in the company of the rest of the Feisty Five, as Moray, Mooch and Ace are seen coming from the Saloon, cheering at Ed's and the deputy's return. Moray rapidly jumps into questioning where Star is, a response which gets them anxious about the sheriff, as Ed tells them what had just happened. Ace attempts to simmer things down by pointing out the friendship between the two intervenients, which gets Ed even more skeptical about the whole deal. Clover hears steping behind them, and when turning back, they are pleased with a friendly and familiar face. Martlet dropped by in their aid , as quickly as she could. Grumbling, Ed protests at Moray for calling Martlet, to which they justify with the help she can offer. Martlet seems more or less aware of the recent happenings, curious about what was spotted at the house. Despite not giving a clear answer, Ed makes sure to highlight his suspicions about the found material, "papers", "tapes", he says, all belonging to Chujin. It seems like it's been so long since Clover last heard this name, a bell rung in their mind as soon as they heard it. Martlet suggests that Clover and her should take a deeper look in the residence. Ed immediately cuts Martlet off on her proposal, affirming the potential risks that Clover might be in if things are done that way, to which the royal guard, like explaining the obvious, returns explaining that such danger, while inevitable, can't stop Clover from solving this mess, once and for all. Even if a bit doubtful, Ed allows the two to proceed on their plan, only advising them not to venture off the path. Martlet responds that she knows the way to the investigation place, something that Clover couldn't help but be surprised by. The four feisties stay behind to grasp on the rest of the situation, while Martlet and Clover exit the Wild East and to the designated location. After the two traverse the main exit of the area, Martlet feels the need to explain her own whereabouts since she left Clover to go with Ceroba through the Steamworks. She doesn't deny the trust that everyone had on the kitsune, though she preferred to stay in Snowdin to take care of some business. Dismissing this talk, Martlet actively tries to concentrate on the real mission, faithful that it could be an accidental misunderstanding. After all, Chujin was her mentor, someone who gave her fundamental guidance. Incapable of hiding a bit of uncertainty, Martlet lets Clover lead the way. Just through the Oasis Valley, that should be the destination. The duo is back together, reunited. Time to solve this mystery, time to press on! Something floats in the air. An indescribable sense. An unknown scent. Something... something is up. That is one amazing feeling that this song DOES. NOT. FAIL to bring! All in those drums, present throughout the whole piece, like you're watching an heroic army marching towards the war, in honor of their people, to protect them. That's also a great adjective to describe this song with: heroic. It feels like music that would play when the main hero and their companions are in for their possible final adventure, or even... a moment where things need to be set in stone, to be all cleared up. With Clover, Martlet and the four feisty guys being unsure of what's to come, it couldn't fit better! For one, a looming sense of a challenge that hasn't appeared yet, something yet to be uncovered, paired with the sentiment of "It's time to take action", with everyone, together, working towards the same goal; it all goes so unbelievably hard, especially at a time like this. The steady drums at the beginning make for such an effect that hasn't really be seen on any other track, it introduces a certain seriousness, a "not fooling around" warning, if you will. The western-like yet dramatic chords at 0:14 only contribute to that feeling, as they help build upon the already-existent dubious aura that surrounds what has been set. This melody, however, spells out a certain motif, one that I can't quite pick on. It's not Starlo's, the Feisty Five's or the Wild East one. Wait, I think I figured it out! I think it is the Dunes' motif, the one that compounds a great core of "Vigorous Terrain"! It's a recognizable one, that's for sure, and none of the others seem to align, so I'm stuck with this one! The follow-up comes in with a slow crescendo of the drums, which will be prominent later on too. Not before, though, a melancholic motif that I could never forget, Ceroba's motif, at 0:44. The most interesting part of this one is how it plays back to back, two times. Despite being seemingly played on the same instrument, both are on different pitches, which could hammer down a dual meaning to all of this... or maybe the meaning of two things, equally melancholic, equally tragic, possibly. Ceroba could be playing such an impactful role here, it's not hard to wonder why her musical mark would make for a recognisable appearance. After a last section of build-up from the drums, a last, and certainly not least motif comes blasting through in those same strings of the probable Dunes' motif, the one present in songs such as "Justice" and "Once Upon a Truthful Time", Clover's own leitmotif! What makes it stand out so much is how the motif is just as heroic as Clover themselves have been! How isolated it manages to be on its second half really has the capacity to bring some goosebumps on your first time listening to it! It hits... different. Ending the song on the end tip of the melody, retaining that last note longer, was such a masterful move. ...

I have to say, seeing "The Trek" instantly reminded me of the other tracks of the Wild East, commonly named "The (Name of the Location)". And, apparently, I'm not half wrong! While those songs were all variations of one another, this one seems to be a bit more distinct in that regard. For one, "The Trek" makes use of the Dunes' motif at its first half (which goes well, since the investigation requires traversing a bit of the vigorous terrain that the Dunes are, which in it of itself practically confirms that this is the right motif), while the earlier Wild East pieces owned a motif that would go hand in hand with the name of the area itself. One of the motifs that I am sure is shared between all of them is Clover's, the motif that puts and end to all of these tracks. I even recall those past pieces having a little sound effect at the endpoint. Kinda sad that this one couldn't get one as well :( Still, I think it's safe to say that "The Trek" was a callback to the soothing music that the Wild East had to offer, and that's both from the name that it is given, as well as the structure of the song, with some motifs sprinkled about and a calmer, general background-music type of feel! If I had to push-in one thing that bothers me about this track is, surprisingly, the ending of it. It doesn't have to do with the instrument or the motif, moreso how long the last note lasts. I'd prefer that, while playing that note, the song did some sort of fade out, where the musical note gets progressively quieter, until it goes completely silent. In the way that it came out to be, the note extends for far too long to either end the song abruptly or loop it awkwardly, both cases that don't really fit for a situational/ambient soundtrack. That's my only nitpick with this surprisingly underrated song! Clover guesses the trek won't be long. While everything was going down, they pieced together that the ornate gate at the far north of Oasis Valley is their only option. As soon as they hear Martlet saying to go toward the oasis, the two sprint at full speed to the village. While hoping that a misunderstanding is all that is causing the confusion, Clover feels prepared to confront what got Starlo and Ed confused and concerned. If their friends are hopeful that they can solve the case, then they keep a glimpse of hope in themselves too! As for Martlet, she's unsure of herself, as per usual. The uneasiness in her is apparent, but she tries to keep her feathers straight in Clover's presence, putting their well-being as her top priority. Avoiding to disturb the other citizens, the two investigators flow through the north path. The ground is less and less covered in sand, allowing for a pattern of stone bricks to be uncovered. The gate is unlocked; Clover stops for a moment to observe the shape of the bow on it. They don't stop for long though, it's nothing that they are not familiar with, anyway. Growing trees, broken trees, dry herbs sit left and right in an unorganized garden. The architecturally pleasing fences lead Martlet and Clover to the end of the road. The two stand before the building, amazed by its proportions. A large and tall cottage that looks brand new and washed away by the erosion of time, simultaneously. The blue bird can't dismiss a "Wow..." with an astounding view like the one she stares at. The young one can tell that she hasn't been here, just by her reaction, even though she outright mentions that Chujin didn't invite her at the time. Martlet takes the word and pushes the duo to enter the house. Both ready, the two invite themselves inside. (16/07/2024-17/07/2024) (The light. I've reached it. Good news, any outside work I may have had is now finished. Now, nothing stands in the way. And, with everything else done, the time is timeless... What if I... No... can I still do it?... You know, I'll try it nonetheless! Every day from now on, daily entries are officially back! One day, one song, just like... just like old times! I could not be happier than having a kick like that again! Even if one entry doesn't come out on its respective day, it will come out in the day after, with the one associated to such following day being put up in that same day. Some days will have to have two, to be clearer. Why be so stuck in the past when you can live in the present? The time has come for me to get up again, stand tall, and show what can still be said! I won't give up! I am not holding back anymore! WE ARE SO BACK!!! HAHA! 8 left.)

@@ZeitInstantswell, actually, Undertale gives us the actual ending for Clover and the other fallen humans, and is an open ended one. At the end of true pacifist, the souls are missing. If you go pay the resting place of the humans a visit, you'll see that their coffins are now all open and empty.
