Here at Boat Specialists we cover just about all types of boat and outboard service including Underwater Lights. Are Underwater Lights right for you? Lean on our expert outfitting staff here at Boat Specialists to help guide you through your Underwater Lights purchase. We can help determine if they are right for you, which lights are best and how and where to install them.
Most of the new boats we sell come factory fitted with underwater lights but many folks either want an upgrade to the standard option, to expand the system, or, if their new boat didn’t come equipped with them, to get some installed.
That goes for boats already on the water as well… it is never too late to add and they can be added to almost any boat regardless of size, hull shape, hull material, electrical system.
Even with an odd transom shape and no obvious place for them, we think creatively and find a way, like mounting them on the trim tabs of this beautiful Solara S-250CW. (In Video)
Having to come up with unique mounting solutions, working on the boat's electrical system, and of course drilling holes below the water line are all reasons most folks leave installation to the experts here at Boat Specialists. Let's head over to our pro shop and take a closer look at the lights themselves.
Some important characteristics to consider when choosing the right lights for your boat are size, mounting method, shape, and material. The most common mounting type and location is surface mounted on the stern of the boat. Underwater lights can range in size from small to very large thru hull variations.
The shape is typically round or oval. The housing materials most commonly used are aluminum, bronze, stainless steel, and more recently, polymer and other composite plastic type materials.
As for the emitted light itself, smaller, simpler lights that offer one or two colors typically put out 500-1000 lumens each. Mid-range lights will ramp up the brightness to above 5000 lumens and start offering RGB color functionality. High end models can offer upwards of 10000 lumens and/or full spectrum color adjustability.
Color control options vary from simple toggle switches, to easy to master knob controllers, wireless remotes, even high tech touchpads and app controllers. Integration with compatible MFD units is possible as well for that luxury yacht experience.
At Boat Specialists, we proudly sell and install lighting from the industry's top manufacturers including Lumitec, Ocean LED, Hella, Lumishore, and more.
If you have questions about underwater lights, or anything else about your boat, speak to one of our experts by visiting one of our locations, giving us a call, or using the contact us form on our website. Thanks for watching and I hope we see you out on the water soon.
