Any brands or sources for good quality shade ir frost cloth that you've had great success with? I know some items can break down quicker than others. I prefer to find quality items but also spending as little as possible. I'm also going to use black tulle this year to limit the pest pressure, esp on my more prized tomatoes like Principe Borghese, Giant Crimson from MIGardener, San Marzano, Wild Boar Farms varieties & Champagne Bubbles from MIGardener (my #1 yellow small variety) as well as varietiess that aren't as disease resistant. I am new to gardening (started a lil over two years ago) so I have grown lots of varieties to find which ones suit my family's needs the best. A big part of my garden is tomatoes and peppers tho so protection is key for the fickle Bay Area weather!

I use 40% shade cloth and that is sufficient to just keep the sun from burning my tomatoes. I use the 10x20 size for my 4x12 beds...this brand amzn.to/49ya3mT Works pretty good. What pests are you trying to keep out with tulle?

@@GreenLove1 Most of the pest pressure is from aphids (also going to try the foil trick, esp for plants I don't use tulle!), moths (which lay eggs that become "The Very Hungry Caterpillar "😂, recently seen signs of Spittle bugs, and of course to reduce slugs climbing up my tomatoes and peppers. Companion planting is also being used a bit more this year by adding things like basil or marigold into the larger grow bags or nearby the smaller grow bags. It helped last year but I'm learning and playing around with methods to see what works for my own garden's needs, coupled with my own physical and time limitations.

@@naynerboppers5254 ah aphids, they're bad in my garden, but usually don't bother my tomato plants. Pepper plants can be badly affected though for me. I might try tulle on them as well -if it starts to be a problem. One amazing thing I have seen this year is Braconid wasps - they really do a number on the aphids. Every year, as I add more diversity to me garden, the pest pressure becomes less and less!
