This is the Cattail Falls Trail , located in West Texas in Big Bend National Park. This trail is located just outside of the Chisos Mountains and offers an unexpected oasis out in the dry desert. The trail is reached by a 1.5 mile long road that you will need to walk to get to the trailhead. From there its only 1 mile to get to Cattail Falls. roundtrip you can expect this to be 5 miles in length and the trail is easy.
Please tread lightly here as this is a fragile environment.
I hope you enjoy this video and please subscribe to my channel to keep up with any updates. Thanks for watching!

This has always been an enjoyable hike for me. I’ve not been when the gate was open and had to hike from the Sam Nail Ranch. A friend of mine got caught on the other side of the creek during a flash flood and had to push the 🆘.

I did not know what to expect on this trail...but I ended up really enjoying it as well! and wow, did they get rescued? or did they have them wait it out? Im assuming they are ok right? thats wild!

@@TheNotLostNomad Yes. She was rescued. You know Cattail Canyon, just above the falls,is the site of the tragic death of climber Bryan Brock. It’s the reason the falls are a solemn place for me to visit.

Well that one is a real gem as well. All the times I've been to Big Bend, it is one I've not ventured to. I've heard it is something when there is water flowing and there is an active falls. Not sure I'd try for it now as it looks like steps are involved, g... my nemesis 😂. Glad you made it and what a lush vegetative enclave tucked away. Really enjoying your hikes at Big Bend...

Love this hike myself too. Yes the road portion is nasty and hot with no shade. But IT IS WELL WORTH IT!

Oh man that road section seemed twice as long hiking it in the sun going back. I wonder how long they plan on having the road closed down…

@@TheNotLostNomad I really contemplated driving my jeep around down to the second parking lot. But I didn't. The waterfall is Not something anyone going to Big Bend wants to miss.

Yeah the road being closed makes no sense at all. I wonder if they did this as a way to slow the traffic and let the trail remain a little wilder…I don’t know…
