You can see a trout swimming in the middle of the shot next to the bank closest to you at your first stop. Bottom left of the V shape of the river. Looks very big! Great video!

You gotta love the Driftless! It’s interesting, I don’t recall last June being all that particularly buggy yet you were fighting them in both your IA video and this one. You must have just hit a narrow window when they were bad. More often than not, the rainbows around here congregate in the slower, deeper pools and the browns hide under bank vegetation and in faster water below riffles. The brookies are usually way up in the headwaters portions of these creeks. Glad you were able to enjoy the local trout, hope you’ll be back through here someday!

Hey, it's the Minnesota video! Very exciting! Is this video taken in southeast Minnesota? That seems to be where a good population of trout is, and that's where my first experience with fly fishing for trout was! Great video! I was quite excited to see your Minnesota experience!!

Minnesota is one of my favorite states . Never fly fished there , always targeted Walleye . No crawling bugs but mosquitos the size of 747s , you feel them when they do a fly by ! Fished in the rain more often than not there . Lost my fishin buddy up there so been a while since I was there . Really enjoyed the video , as usual 👍👍

Thank you for showing trout fishing in Minnesota, our fish are small but mighty fighters. I'm from SE MN and this creek looks familiar, and typical water for trout fishing. I recently got a new Shimano rod from Japan and I'm looking forward to fishing with it this year. Did you do a video on the kebari fly you used on this trip? I think I'll tie some up to use with my Shimano 330.

Great, lots of water to explore. If you have time, try to head East over to SW Wisconsin's Driftless area, you'll find many streams well suited to Tenkara.

Interesting to see the Oni Type I in action. It is the sort of rod that is a joy to use, and a true Japanese tenkara miracle--according to the Oni Japan store online, "Its biggest feature is that it has a solid rod tip which makes it hard for fish to detect the line tension, resulting in easy hook setting. This rod is not recommended for novices who are still inexperienced in rod handling. These are sensitive rods for those who are decently accustomed to using Tenkara rods." But I find its 4 meter length is something of an issue in very small, brush-cluttered streams. Nevertheless, the rod is worth owning as a work of art!

The ONi it's an amazing rod for sure. It not only makes fun out of catching small fish but i've seen people fight huge carp on it (there's a vid of a italian guy doing it here on YT). Now just out of curiosity, did you notice any similarities betrween the ONU rod and the Sagiri?? Thanks 4 Sharing! 🙏

Jackpot! What a great piece of water! Hey- wondering if you could comment on the public fishing access (in general) when you travel to different states. Each state has its own take on what is considered public access (floating, on the river bed, below the high water mark, only by easement, etc.), and some are in flux due to legislation and lawsuit. I'm guessing you weren't on public lands (e.g. Forest Service, State Forest, BLM) in this one, so MN must have an easement system?
@87Cloudwalker
@87Cloudwalker Год назад
Hey Tristan. You have way more hours and experience trout fishing than me, so you might already know this. But if you turn your fish upside down while it’s in the net it can sedate the fish for a few seconds without hurting it. Could help you get a better ratio on that first or best fish photos :)
