5:58 the referee did issue a red card to Boniface which took a check to be rescinded. Boniface was already off the field; it took a few minutes actually and was very dramatic watching it live. Without that the match might have ended before the winning goal

I agree, that there is always a little luck involved in football. But this is pure will and belief. And sth everyone seems to forget while talking about this late goals: The other team doesn't have to stop playing. They could also score late, if they are able or willing to. But Leverkusen mostly plays them tired (do you even say that in english? :D Sorry, I'm german :D) E.g. you could see it with Qarabag: They would've never survived the overtime. They were done after around the 75th, 80th minute by giving too much effort before to get to the 2:0 lead in both games. And even despite that they couldn't really run anymore, they ALSO had a chance for the 3:3 after Schick got that 3:2 in. They just missed it. Not my best english here, but i hope i could make my point clear :D

The most attention should be on the fact that due to the rule changes, the loser of the cup final won't play in the continental competition anymore. It was always the greatest reward for an awesome cup run to have a continental cup competition guaranteed if you lost against the designated champion or any team already going to Europe.
