I actually enjoy listening to this album along with Unfinished Music 2 and the Wedding Album. They're snapshots of their relationship and their creativity, not caring what other people think. That's true creativity
Haven't listened to it in awhile, but always enjoyed it. Remember, it's "unfinished music". The listener is supposed to add to it.... participate in it... I remember it being.... elevating. But isn't that what The Beatles always did? "Hey guys, come join us! The view is great from up here." :)
Very good video Chlozycat! You always pick interesting topics and albums. I don't think anyone would say they love this album but it's possible, I guess. I think it's the one where he whistles in it which is my favorite thing about the album. I have listened to it twice all the way through. I never lived in England but the album sort of transports a person into John's home around that time period. Also, when I was a kid, we had a few record stores in town, and I remember it being in the window of the shop in a brown paper cover. John is such an interesting guy and had a lot of guts! Thanks again for the review. You are my favorite! Russ
Please! Never apologise for not liking this album. Some people were disappointed when Let it Be came out, an album which I absolutely love, but when I bought this album, and it pains me to call it an album, to say I was disappointed is an understatement as I felt cheated, and still do, that I actually paid money for this. If John Lennon had put this out as a free album or even whatever it cost to produce that’s okay but for him and Yoko to make royalties on it, obviously not that much, is daylight robbery. I still have this vinyl album that I bought in the late 70s and often think of selling it to get my money back but as an avid Beatle fan it’s part of my collection and I still have the memory of how excited I was when I first bought the album until I got home and then I played it?????
I agree with everything you had said. I am a first generation fan and have the original US copy and the original unfinished music no. 2 and Wedding album. They were only played once and left to collect with all my other collection of albums.
Hello from Canada 😀. You must be a huge Beatles fan to own this on two different formats. I've been a massive Beatles nut for over 60 years and have only heard, like George, bits and pieces of Two Virgins, which is enough for me. I do own the Wedding Album box set, however. Can't recall why I purchased it, but it is a collectors item I suppose. // New Beatles doc announced today. Beatles '64 on Disney + Nov 29. Hopefully some new footage included. Already own "The First US Visit" and the Sullivan shows on DVD.
@@denpea-mm8zr 😆 I was reluctant to buy the album on vinyl as I knew I’d probably not play it, but I wanted it for my collection. I am very excited to watch the doc on Disney. I can’t wait 😁
Life With The Lions and The Wedding Album are also pretty bad. They did a much better job on Revolution 9 which, though not very popular either, is actually a very powerful track.
Life With Lions side 1 is great and overall the albumv is easily the best of the trio. I always though Revolution 9 was as much McCartney's baby as it was Lennon's.
I’m one of the weird ppl who actually likes the song Revolution 9. I imagined Two Virgins would be similar. But I was disappointed. It’s much less interesting. I only made it through listening to it one time.
I have a US Zapple label release. I found it in a thrift shop back in the 70's. For awhile, the album became a collector's piece fetching lots of money. I has been pirated many times over. As for the content, WHY? It only took John's genius a few steps down.
😊Hi✨✨✨As different as it is, I really enjoy this album✨Keyboardist Bobby Whitlock from Derek and the, Dominoes, has a great story of how he had to rent the room or somethingt, the room they used to photograph the album cover that day. Booby Whitlock's RU-vid page has lots of stories you may like of behind the scenes✨Have a great day snd enjoy your RU-vid site. And thank you for your research ✨🌝
Not his best album. This one, the wedding album, life with the lions are just awful ! How he charged money for those “songs “, is beyond a rip off, imo. A very unproductive period for John. Plastic Ono Band album was a vast improvement.
An original copy would be nice to have as an historical artefact all these years later. But musically it's absolute junk with no merit whatsoever. It disproved the theory going around at the time that if you put Lennon or McCartney on a record it would sell. 😀
