Wonderful to see everyone talking about God and the commands of Jesus to spread the Gospel, the good news… there’s so much more to it than salvation, and of course that alone is worthy of the task. All the better when Christians recognize the full Gospel and share it all…. It was nice to see it recognized and received, with not a whisper of denial in the whole film. 😊💕

Pizzaflix, good for you…I walked into this and got blindsided..could hardly believe my eyes..that such a story was told with such a fine cast…if only a fraction of believers would be willing to lay their lives down for the Greater cause of taking the good news of Gods love to our broken fallen world…timeless story…I do the work of the One who sent me…to know Him and make Him known…Amen!

There are many movies from this time period with a strong gospel message that resulted in no recriminations. It only shows how far we've fallen.

Ed Kozlowsky We are Less violent than ever before. The past was not as wonderful as you think. Crime has been falling as America becomes less religious. The religious are more violent and dangerous, and statistics show people in prison are very very religious. But nonreligious have about a 2% chance of going to jail, versus maybe a 50% chance for some other subsectors of our society. Faith is a danger, not something to be proud of.

I've just started watching this movie, but I do notice many, if not all only say Christ, they do not associate the name Jesus with it. Keep in mind that the "anti" Christ is also worshiped. :( Many messages contained in the movie are of peace, and love etc., I've watched, and Wow, great message, great movie.

Believers, not just in old movies, need to be more outspoken. The problems today can be connected to our sins of omission. I was 8 when this film came out for viewing. I'd never seen it before now. But I can remember and see the contrast between then and now. It was far from perfect in 1960, but this film offers a nice reminder how conversing about faith was not taboo. Very fine film. Ray Collins was perfect for his part.

A "Ray Collins Vehicle"! Wow! It's really neat to see Ray Collins in what I would say is the "Star" part. "Lt. Tragg" from "Perry Mason", is always the first role that comes to mind when I see him, no matter the film, of which he was in dozens. Very distinguished actor, he was one of the great Orson Wells "Mercury Players", as well. Thanks so much!

I was raised in a Lutheran home and could tell from the beginning this is a Lutheran production. Herman W. Gockel wrote the storyline. He was a pastor who wrote many devotionals and pamphlets. Their denomination was big on missions during that era. You might be familiar with Davey and Goliath tv show, and The Lutheran Hour.

@Sunny bob Quackers He certainly didn’t say he wanted it to be hard. His yoke is easy and his burden is light. It’s the flak from the world he warned of. He didn’t want that for his people. He also said take care of my lambs and my sheep. He didn’t actually say to take care of the goats, but to do that in passing but not be the focus. No one comes to the Father unless he draws them. That’s why you don’t press people. Jesus never pressed people. If they weren’t interested, you were to shake the dust from your feet as a testament against them and move on. Notice that even when he fed the people, he multiplied the food for people who showed up and stayed long enough to have run out of their own food and be hungry. He wasn’t feeding people right and left. People failed to look at the parameters he said. The four gospels are instructions all of us, and they don’t stop where most Christians stop. John 14:12. That goes well beyond healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons… Which every Christian should be working on, but it goes beyond that. And Jesus said anything you ask… So he expected every Christian to take the ball in men with it. Not be benchwarmers. And not sell the satanic lies of a “vow of poverty” (which is a vow to reject the blessings of God) and other lies sold by organized religions who inserted middlemen who claim to have more power and authority to use the name of Jesus Christ as any other Christian, which proves them to be satanic liars because Jesus Christ is the only head of his church. “The one true church“ by definition could never be a formal organization, that puts it squarely in the kingdom of man. The “one true church“ can only ever be the spiritual collective of every individual worldwide who has received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and who follows HIS teachings, not the teachings hijacked and twisted and stripped, like Roman Pagan Catholicism, Islam, Mormonism, JWs and so forth. Every one of them has a Babylonian root and denies the commands of Jesus, and creates a heirarchy. I don’t know how Roman Catholics don’t see all the satanic symbolism. Aside from the fact that Mary and saints are just the Roman gods and goddesses with the identical same functions they just gave them Bible names, (and attempting to make any contact is necromancy, which is for bidden, but it’s also what God calls “whoring around“ because if we aren’t going directly to him in the name of Jesus Christ, then it’s whoring around, according to God, not to all the messengers warning those who are doing so…and they should not take offense by being told this but get out of Babylon while they still can, because that’s what the book of Revelation tells them to do… actually, it’s what the whole Bible tells them to do. They don’t even know that Jesus Christ had brothers and sisters, there’s a lot they don’t know. They don’t know Jesus Christ is the only intercessor, they don’t know that anyone claiming to have more power and authority in Christ Jesus over any other Christian is a satanic liar)… …and proceeded to ignore what God said not to do and what he said to do, but right there smack dab in the middle of Vatican Square is the homage to the Egyptian fertility god, the obelisk, rising up in the middle of the square like a giant middle finger to God, and the dome, the homage to the Egyptian fertility goddess right next to it as it always is. there’s one in Washington, DC as well. They are everywhere. You would think Catholics would know how God feels about turning to other gods, or other spirits or other anything… But they have placed their faith in the very system That did everything they could to destroy real Christianity, and has been 2000 years trying to wipe real Christianity off the face of the Earth, by impersonating it, and misrepresenting God so people either followed the wrong version, which gives them no power or go on their little killing sprees, torturing and killing anyone in their past anyone that got the teachings and gave it to the people in the language they can understand by translating app, all to make people hate what they falsely believed is Christianity. Because real Christianity in empowers people. And real Christianity has no human leaders. Human teachers, pastors, yes. Anyone who claims to have any more access to God, more rights or authority to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, walk on water, or turn it into wine, and calm the storms and so much more… Multiply food and so on, OR who says that “those days are past”, or who claims that no Christians have that, and they deny the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which a lot of Christians do deny them, any or all of it… is a liar. Denying the full Gospel, including everything Jesus told us to do, because he was going back to God and gave us the responsibility to take over for him in every way that he was doing things except the crucifixion because he was the only send this one, and because it is finished and doesn’t need doing every other work we had to be doing… And anyone who says otherwise is calling Jesus a liar, which makes them a satanic liar.

Our greatest problem is true believers living in the world but are not of the world. Churches are full of ministers and unsaved people performing the rituals religion demands. As you go, as you walk you carry Christ in the tabernacle of your body. "He does not dwell in buildings made by man".

What makes our beautiful loving faces change soo much? Is it hereditary? Is it our lack of sleep? Is it how hard we are on ourselves? Or is it our separation of love from the oneness we all a part of, a oneness that we are all connected to? We need to stay connected to our love for one another because WE ARE ALL CONNECTED TOGETHER ETERNALLY. No matter how much we separate ourselves from our ONE SAME CONSECUTIVENESS, when will we realize that everyone of us LOVE each other! Separation on our linear 3D path of living only brings us closer to suffering needlessly...! WHY DO WE NEED TO FEEL SO SEPARATED FROM ONE ANOTHER? Even though one man/woman can not do it alone, it takes every man/woman to do it separately & together.

Indeed it does. Whilst the life and teachings of Christ are: " You must have love among yourselves - by this all will know you are my disciples." (John 13:34, 35) Also, The Golden Rule: "All things that you want men to do to you, you must also do to them." Yet this film shows the church up to its neck in double standards back then (WW1 and WW2) they recruited from the pulpits! Yet Christ taught his followers to "return your sword to its place, for those living by the sword, will die by the sword." Can you imagine the founder of Christianity supporting mankind's hideous acts of religious genocide? (Rwanda Catholic v Protestant, Catholic v Catholic, Protestant v Protestant). Whose side would he be on? Would the founder of Christianity be embroiled in the church's multiple lawsuits in country after country against paedophile priests? And so much more.... Whilst there are sincere individuals, they can sincerely be wrong. The beautiful teachings of the Gospel have been mired in sewage and bloodshed by the churches of all "Christian" denominations. The book of Revelation 18:3 - 6 shows God's view of this gross misrepresentation and actually says "Get Out!" If you do not want to have a part in the sins of this false Christianity. Yes, this film is full of mixed messages. Thankfully Jesus was not. Learn to love God, learn to love others as yourself. All else will follow: no hatred, no exploitation of others for religious, political or commercial gain. Wow! Thanks so much for your comment. It gives me hope. Please enjoy your day.

Christian missions are way down because young people today believe it’s better let these cultures believe in their pagan traditions and go on their ways of their ancestors. They believe they’re “respecting” their cultures . They are ignorant of the fact that most of these cultures live in spiritual darkness without hope. Many young people today don’t even want to consider Jesus’s words, “I am the Way, the Truth, the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me,” might be true. It’s not politically correct. We can see the purpose for missions is not necessarily to have peace on earth, but to have peace (reconciliation) with God (as we are sinners deserving condemnation) and that can only be obtained through faith in Jesus through His atonement for our sins. His death on the Cross accomplished far more than any of us can fathom in the spiritual realm. Read book of Romans and John in Bible to understand more.

I'm afraid this is going to be goody-goody and oh so meaningful. And worst of all, Angie Dickinson isn't going to be sexy. Not even one murder or a good punch-up fight. No conflict in him or struggles besides his role-cast father, just perfectly straight and narrow. Even the apostle Paul admitted his conflicts fighting the sin within him and doing what he didn't want to do and not doing what he should do. If Paul had been a contemporary actor he could not have done this role.

The son's hypocritical christianity was off-putting. What about respecting your father, not misleading him to spend a fortune on unwanted engineering degree? What about concern for others (walking in their shoes) such as the GF who was expected to uproot and follow his whim/his children not getting good education, healthcare and the best start in life. There are many ways to do God's work other than stuffing religion down the throats of poverty-stricken natives, who have their own religions. With so many homeless, an altruistic engineer could use his skills to design affordable housing and, in that way, serve the Lord.
