This finely crafted piece of furniture has a secret.
Swing out a leg, adjust an arm, and voilà! Leaves unfold to reveal multiple configurations: a felt surface for card games, a game board for chess or checkers, a desk with a leather writing surface and book rest. Tug at a hidden latch, and a spring-driven backgammon board pops up.
The brainchild of German cabinetmaker David Roentgen (1743--1807), this sophisticated game table once graced the intimate interior of an aristocratic European home. The exquisite piece was not only convenient for entertaining guests, but it was also portable-its legs unscrew so it can easily be packed and moved.
This 3-D animation of the table demonstrates its different configurations and illuminates its concealed features, including drawers for tucking away personal items and compartments for storing game pieces.

What a lovely neat animation - it does the table justice.

I realised that when they said it comes in a convenient travel case they assume you have two convenient servants to lug it about.

s Although I agree this would likely be the equivalent of a years salary for some people, your tone would indicate that you are lacking the intelligence to show a little empathy equivalent to your lower class position and lack of education.

There’s plenty of fine furniture makers that could easily make a reproduction of that, only thing is it’d cost £50,000 😮

Contact the Met. The dimensions might be available. This piece is public domain. That being said, remember this was made by a workshop run by an artisan family who made things for royalty. These pieces are made of mahogany and other precious materials. However, if you can figure out how to make this, there are a number of people in the comments who might like to buy one.

It's a shame people would rather buy from Ikea than have something made to last a lifetime. Because of that, the amount of good woodworkers is dwindling; resulting in higher prices and even less people interested.
