The simple scene of Michael Keaton ordering a McDonald’s meal in The Founder and being casually confused/impressed by it was genuinely more entertaining than any absurd gag that happens in Unfrosted.
I always found it weird the hate for Amy and especially Melissa when Seinfeld is lauded despite being the most corny PC outdated comics, just because he pays lip service to the anti woke crowd.
I'd bet good money that the original script was funnier and more insane than what we saw. It felt like they cut a lot of stuff - either for time or budget - that would've actually made it make sense. Like that weird ravioli creature that pops up for 10 seconds of screen time - no way they didn't have more going on with that thing. And I'd also bet good money that the terrible line deliveries were because Seinfeld told them to yell. He spent half the movie yelling his lines...
I’m beginning to see the genius of Larry David the more things Seinfeld makes without him. Sure he makes a great light hearted kids thing, but he isn’t as great at writing comedy than I thought he was. This movie proves it (i mean Bee movie proved it already but I thought hey maybe it was like a fun I’ll try it once thing) But yeah it baffled me how a cast of multi millionaire comedians could be this unfunny. That’s bad script and direction for you.
Realized halfway through I hadn’t laughed yet and it couldn’t possibly save itself. Saved some time and turned it off. Jerry can’t act and Jerry can’t direct. Got it. Agree with your review pretty much right on.
@@slybrethren3252Agreed and I am a brand new Seinfeld (show) fan - been watching it every night for the past couple of months and I realized I only watch it for Kramer and George. Their lines are hilarious and they carry the show. I don’t even chuckle for Jerry, unfortunately. His high pitched voice annoys me. I need to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm now.
@@andrialex1 after you watch some curb you will see where all the funny jokes came from. season 8 and 9 of seinfeld you can see the drop off. larry had left.
Or write! The right is taking the word of a man whos only made the BEE movie and this turd as someone who knows that movies are going downhill let alone knowing what a good movie is.
Man, Jerry can’t escape the “Seinfeld” curse. lol. Hats Off Entertainment is going to have a blast with this one. This ain’t Barbie, Jerry! 😂 Canceling Dead End Paranormal Park was a mistake!
There's a drunk history where the Owen and Luke Wilson play the founders of Kelloggs and it would had actually made a great movie unironically.... that's all I need to say
I watched "Unfrosted" today. I guess my expectations were too high, but it was not as funny as I had expected... I bet they thought it was funny as they were playing it themselves, but for audience, it's a different story.
I dunno, man. It's been a very long time since I laughed as hard as I did at 'Snap! Crack-le! Pop!' during the funeral scene. At the end of the day, this movie did not take itself seriously at all, it was just fun, and I think I loved it for that reason.
Need to chill people Jim Gaffigan said it's a silly approach to a fun topic And that's exactly it....this movie is more stilly than funny I don't recall really laughing out loud once, but snickered several times.. Just shut off the world, and go along for the ride Enjoy the amazing cast, and the over the top goofy.. Just a fun approach... Life's too short, too hard... relax and enjoy the silly
There's not a subgenre called "Silly" in comedy. If it's silly and funny, it's a great mix. If it's just silly, it's just a cringefest. To paraphrase Jerry, "If it's not funny, I'm not interested".
I made it halfway through and gave up. As a Brit I’m used to absurdist humour, but this was painfully unfunny on every level. Netflix really needs to start overseeing its projects properly, nobody involved in this mess deserved paying for what they delivered.
Seinfeld is so out of touch that he essentially created a bad 90’s movie you keep seeing at Blockbuster that no one ever rents right down to box cover.
I’ve just tried watching it. I fell asleep within 15 mins. It’s a sketch dragged out to 90 mins worth of unfunny comedy. Shame. Jerry let his ego get in the way of comedy.
@@seannymommy I can see how you’d get that impression. I should have mentioned I woke up and carried on watching it. But it was a struggle. Have you seen it? Have you an opinion on the film?
@@hawsrulebegin7768I've now seen it twice. It's fun, and there are a lot more gags and references than I picked up the first time. Every line is a reference to something. Love the line "leave the box," evoking the depressed barfly trope. All the way to the "movies that end with inexplicable dance numbers and/or individualized credits" cliche. It's a dumb, silly movie, packed with gags and famous comedians. I'll probably watch it again.
It was funny and silly. If you didn't chuckle at anything, you're probably devoid of happiness. C'mon, the Walter Kronkite scenes alone were great. Your ability to get past Schumer is sad.
I think it is a lack of comedy chops by younger people, I guess. It just went over their heads. I don't like Bill Burr, Amy Schumer, or Jim Gaffigan. But they were all funny and good in this movie. I thought it was a cute and silly movie that was a very enjoyable time.
Good review! Especially liked that you didn’t include 10 minutes of talking about Seinfelds recent comments about wokeness. All other reviews Ive watched seem to think that was very important to add.
It took a while to rev up, but once they did the "every Mad Men pitch in 5 minutes" scene, I was in. Started boring, but by the end it's a funny movie I'm glad I saw. Bill Burr is outstanding as JFK, and it takes a real history junkie to pull out the tiny bits of what really happened (although there is one bit of truth they apparently don't trust us to already know, so they tell us at the end.)
I wanna watch it because the reviews are dull and boring and dull and boring, for the sake of comedy can be dull and boring, and if you repeat it, it becomes a joke, except you had technicolor and a few famous names and then it becomes ironic and a force to be reckoned with or just a bad farce
M8 so you have to be aleast 65 plus to enjoy this movie? Even if it was just because the jokes were too esoteric and historical thats not a good sign. It's a pop tart movie not a drama about the Cuban Missile Crisis. It's targeted at kids or maybe that's just Jerry's famous "edgy anti PC" knock knock jokes. But it's not, the 60's are one of the most famous decades in pop culture, the jokes are just bad, we understand what they're trying to say, THATS THE PROBLEM, its.....NOT FUNNY.
There was a Comedians in Cars episode with Joel Hodgson. In that episode, they both riff an imaginary scene over the sound of the ketchup bottle and how there were endless stale and stiff company meetings on handling the new ketchup bottle sound. THAT was a thousand times more funny than this movie, and should have offered the template of how to make this movie. If Jerry had tossed the stand-up stage format of streams of puns and jokes and just used that ultra-serious premise of stakes stiff upper lip attitude over pop tarts, that would have been a million times funnier. Life and death over pop tarts. Instead, everyone was funny and happy with each other, showing Jerry's kryptonite: Knowing how to write a movie, even a funny movie. He should have consulted Mel Brooks. This happens when you believe your own press clippings to the degree you feel you are omnipotent. It happens with celebrated, award-winning directors. Jerry just got there in film one.
I’m a huge Seinfeld fan but didn’t like the movie much-same with Bee 🐝 movie. Bee 🐝 movie starts out great in the Hive and then loses out once the Bee leaves to the real world
I'm a boomer. Not it is not reverential. You can't paste a scrapbook onto a set, get some comedians to toss around endless gag lines, have every character never show any fear over anything, and call it a movie.
I couldn't finish it. I made it to Tony Hale's cameo and I tapped out, I was just cringing way too hard. I got Epic Movie vibes from it, and I just couldn't do it.
How did someone so talented come up with something so flat? Most of this was almost embarrassing to watch. I loved the Seinfeld series, enjoyed the Bee Movie and got a real kick out of most of the Comedians in Cars episodes. Unfrosted? Wish I could unsee it. Hope the next show is back up to the usual level of excellence we're used to with Seinfeld. We still love you, Jerry!
I just watched it. It was like a humiliation ritual for some of the most beloved tv actors of the last 20 years. Its like sienfeld made a movie just to humiliate everyone that was on TV after he was. Absolutely terrible movie
Couldn’t agree with you more Austin. I love most everything Jerry has done. He knows funny. Seeing this, I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being a Kaufman-like ruse to show how comedy can no longer funny due to appeasing the woke community and everyone in the movie especially the comedians are in on the gag.
Felt the same. A couple good guest appearances and cameos (nice to see Christian slater, Peter Dinklage, Jon hamm, etc), but just terrible directing and really bad dialogue. I would say two funny moments (kind of) and then just felt like a waste of time. 3/4 of the way through I just fast forwarded to the end where it was even worse. Definitely a shame - could have been grrreat
I think this movie definitively proved to me that Jerry Seinfeld without Larry David just feels lost. I'm also convinced he was able to get so many people involved because they thought Larry was gonna be involved in some sort of capacity (which thankfully he isn't). I found this to be a pretty painful watch tbh.
It was depressing to hear Bill Burr say on his podcast that he thought this movie turned out great and is really funny. Bill usually calls it like it is but there is no way he actually believes this.
Perfect review.. I went into this movie wanting to like it, even to the point of being totally open to liking it even if it was very different than my taste, but i couldn't force a laugh. I think Jerry has been so successful that he could be like Norm and not care if we laugh or like it, the difference is Norm was almost always hysterical, and this movie was never hysterical. Like Jerry very much regardless. I think he's a great dude who's made the world much better, but not with this movie.
Not sure if yall picked up on it within it's satire,.. but major truth bombs were dropped on the public through it. The movie had NOTHING to do with pop tarts nor, cereal brands. Its a history reveal.
He had a few stinkers. Jack and Jill, That's my boy though, it had a few funny moments...not a good movie. I didn't care for the ''Grown Up'' movies. Grown Ups 2 being even worse than the first one.
@@Acrylescent that’s good that you had a good time. People like these kinds of things. It just means there will be more of it and I have to be more careful about how I choose to spend my time. Now I know that next time Jerry Seinfeld directs a movie I’ll steer clear.
@@DoctorRevers totally fair lol but I kind of recognize how bad the movie is. It’s more akin to a guilty pleasure I guess. So I understand where you are coming from.
I feel like this movie was probably above a lot of people's heads. People are just too stupid these days. I loved this movie. I thought it was hilarious. The period references were masterfully done. This was a really good movie. I think you're not getting it.
Oh man I really really really Hope I enjoy watching it more than he did but something tells me he might be right 🤦 oh well I'm still planning on watching it tonight I'll let you all know I think after I watch it 😏
I would rather eat a pop tart from the 1960's than watch this painfully bland unfunny movie again. I needed a Seinfeld chaser afterward to get this out of my mind!!
You missed so much. The corporate wars .milkmen. I stand by my previous comment .You simply do not have the background research prepared to do a movie review justice. All of the things in the movie happened in one way or another. It was very much like "asteroid city" These folks weren't going for laughs ,they were going for art. Unfortunately they way overestimated the brain power of their audience.
