A UN General Assembly (UNGA) session on a resolution about “rights and privileges” for Palestine that would call on the Security Council to favourably reconsider Palestine’s request to become the 194th member of the UN has begun.

the UN General Assembly should be meeting under the Uniting for Peace Resolution to adopt meaningful sanctions against Israel: 1. Suspend Israel; 2. Set up a criminal tribunal to prosecute Israeli officials; 3. Recommend economic sanctions and severing of diplomatic relations.

I agree with you, but at this point the USA, UK, Germany, etc have shown that there is no way they will let stuff like this get through so stuff like the general assembly and other sub groups within the UN need to continue showing the world that these countries are hypocrites and in support of the violence. It’s painfully slow, yes but at this point it is the only way forward the world has same as it happened in apartheid South Africa (and not surprising Israel and the many western countries were the last countries to pull away).

No, not even UNSC is binding. Remember when UNSC agree for 14 days temporary ceasefire during Ramadhan (US for the first time since oct 7 abstain for the Gaza proposal) yet, Israel still conduct their invasion untill the population of 1.6M moved to Rafah. The binding one is when US tried to sanction country that didn't align with their agenda (such as Cuba, Rusia, China, or Iran).
