The only thing I DIDN’T like about this video is it was too SHORT! 😮 I could have watched you organize every single shelf. Can’t wait to see the entire project! Soooo satisfying 🤗
Decluttering is so fun! It's interesting to see what people decide to keep and what to unhaul. Five books! Whew, that is ruthless. I like it! LOL off to see your other two parts.
I could have easily watched way more shelves. What is it about watching someone else talk through their logic of why they unhaul certain books that is such a draw for me? It's also very motivating. You did amazing reaching the goal of 5 books per shelf. Strong woman your are. :) Can't wait to see the rest of the shelves being done!
So far it wasn't too hard. There may be other shelves that are harder. yikes. I am eager to keep going. I'll add a couple on next time so it's a bit longer.
I really enjoyed The Other Einstein. I can honestly say I am so glad I do not have as many books as you do. I could NEVER focus on the task of unhauling long enough. I’d probably end up revamping my TBR. 🤦🏻♀️
Your decluttered shelves look nice. I remember watching you put your new shelves together and I've seen them grow more and more books. Now that we know what your plans are, maybe you can make a longer unhauling video.
That was a great video. Although I could totally watch you do more, I understand only wanting to do 2 shelves at a time. You have enough work to do removing the books from Goodreads and any of your other spreadsheets and the to put them up on Pengo. Can’t wait for the next one! Have a great week!
I still haven't put these 12 up on Pango. Hopefully will find time for that later this month. I will try to do 3 or 4 next time though. Consensus is that longer would be welcome. haha.
These are like my FAVORITE kind of videos!! Awesome job, your shelves look great😊Sometimes i think i spend more time organizing my books rather than actually reading them😂so fun! I organize by genre❤
I have thought about organizing by genre, but I like just keeping it simple and having everything alphabetized for now. I'm glad you enjoy this because there's more coming!
Krista, I did enjoy this un-haul. We are exact opposites when it comes to book series. I’d rather read a series than a stand-alone. QUESTION: Knowing how you feel about series, why do you buy any of them at all? I have a number of audiobooks that I have bought in the last 14 years that I know I will never read. So why did I spend the money on them to begin with? I’m trying to figure out quality book buying, rather than “it was on sale” book buying. Such a dilemma.
I have plenty of series on the go. Just updated my spreadsheet a bit and I am in the middle of about 30 series. Some I only have 1 left and am hoping to knock a few of those out this Series September. I do love a series. I am just not that great about finishing them! haha
Great idea I need to do that as well I only gave two sets of book cases fill with books that I know I won’t read all of them.. because more good books keep coming out!! So I think I’ll unhaul my shelves as well…. Thank you for the inspiration!!’ Good Luck with the rest of your shelves!!
Good luck! It's hard, but be ruthless. There will definitely be ones you can imagine reading soon. And others that just aren't quite as interesting. You can do it!
Fun video - and love your determination with unhauling FIVE from each shelf! CONGRATS to you.... don't think I could do that. Look forward to seeing part 2,3,4 etc... 😄 hope you are feeling much better too. Jacqueline
Great project. You've inspired me to organize my bookcases. I've done 3 of my small bookcases so far and have 15 books to unhaul so far. I have 4 large bookcases left to do. Good luck with your project.
That's awesome. It feels so good right? I find it so motivating to get rid of the "excess" ones I'm not as interested in. Makes me really want to read what's left!
I loved The Little Shop of Found Things so much I bought the rest of the series. LOL. If you ever get the urge to read it, I'll share mine. It's a good thing to do and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you do! I may go find your Pango because I think my Little Shop of Found Things is a paperback.
I have had that Little Shop book for a couple years now and still haven't had the urge to pick it up. I'm sure I could find it on audio if I ever decide it's the time for it. I still need to add these 12 to Pango. Haven't sat down to do that yet. They'll get there soon I hope.
I can help, when you get to the shelf with Saint X on it, that is a definite pull. The beginning was good and then it went down hill fast. Or you could read the first 3 or 4 chapters then skip to the end.
Good job, Krista. I like that you're sharing the process with us. I've unhauled quite a few books, but have a lot more to go through. You can inspire me!
I think it's ambitious to unhaul 5 from each shelf but it will leave plenty of room for new books! In your last video I think you said you were listening to At Home in Mitford-I’m looking forward to your August wrap up to hear what you think of it.
It hasn't left any room yet since most of my shelves are overflowing. haha. It does seem a bit ambitious, but I hope the rest of the shelves go as smoothly as these first two. We'll see.
Thanks, Lindsey. I didn't count my total, but I did film my haul so I will count when I edit that. haha. I think you got the most though. Sorry...Sarah and I had a hand in adding to your piles for sure!
Aww thanks, Anna. Most of these unhaul books will go up on Pango for resale first...and then to a used bookstore for credit...and then whatever is left will go into LFLs. I'm part of the problem of not having good books in them! haha.
We're on the same wavelength; I'm starting to unhaul some on my shelves too, but I'm not nearly as good at it as you are. I think to hard over each book, lol. Series September is going to be helpful for me in that regard. I'm going to be reading some 1st books in some series that I have and determine if I'm keeping the rest of those series on my shelves or not.
I try not to think too hard when I'm unhauling. I have SO many books that I can never possibly read them all. Once I am looking at my shelves there are usually some that I immediately get excited for and others I feel meh about. I don't feel bad unhauling the meh ones. haha. It's a good feeling to be even more excited about what's left. You can do it!
I’m readying the Jenny Colgan Beach Street Bakery right now. It’s cute. I want to know more about the author of Saving Savannah. Did she write that surviving the titanic book? Thanks for inspiring me to organize my shelves today!
I know Patty Callahan (Henry) has quite a few books, but I don't think she has a Titanic one. Maybe you're thinking about The Girl Who Came Home by Hazel Gaynor?
I am reading Bird in Hand as we speak. It dies have a main storyline of adultery. I know that's kind of a negative checkmark for you. Just wanted to let you know. Keep going with the unhaul! Looks good!
Oh man. I'm not a fan of an adultery story line as you know, but I do love Christina Baker Cline so...I guess I'll give it a try at some point, but be willing to DNF. We'll see. Thanks for the heads up.
A Matter of Class by Mary Balogh is very good. I gave it an "A". The story structure is what really stands out. I would go into why, but that would be a spoiler. Plus, it's not very long.
These were mostly unread books except for my Backman and Chamberlain stacks. I want those authors to stay together so I mix read and unread for those ones.
I’ve paused this video because I’m so excited about your unhauling! Just call me Decluttering Dinah!!😂 LATER: man I thought you were going to do several shelves! But you did good, made quick decisions. My heart dropped when you pulled the Jenny Colgan ones! I wanted you to pull the Harlan Coben one but after you said it was a gift I understand. I love the snowman with the books but what’s with the buttons?
Woohoo! I just filmed part 2 today! It feels so good to be excited about my shelves again! I did 4 this time so you have a few more to look forward to. I don't have a reason for the buttons. Just a fun decoration.
I just emptied a couple of bookshelves. Id had the boos go 10+ years and haven't read them so I it was time for them to go. They were all Christian fiction and one of the ladies I craft with love those. So I gave them to her. Unfortunately she didn't take them all so they'll first go to the library and if they don't want them they'll go on the "Free" bookshelf at the library.
I love the word Tsundoku. I have a tshirt with that definition on it. I love having a large book collection too, but I do want to read the books I have. So a clear out now and then is simply necessary since I keep getting new books!
The other einstein was interesting, but I didn't love the feminist lens in which it was written with little proof that this is how it happened in real life.
Yikes. I am not sure I'll like that either. Good to know. If I get to a shelf that I can't find 5 maybe I can go back to the shelves I've finished and be even more ruthless. We'll see. haha
