Because, initially we have 1 therefore we started from upper than reference line. I am confused in the second example of NRZ-I . Initially the transition is 0 so we should shart it from reference line.

I am using "data communication and networking se" by Forouzan (pretty sure the guy in the vid also uses) has an ex. The bits are -> 01001110 and here in NRZ-I the graph started from positice end even though the first bit is 0.

Sir, in polar NRZ-I, at t=0, how it can be identified that the first bit is 0 or 1. Because in both examples, 100... and 001... The graph is above the reference line.

I will explain you nandini whether there is zero or 1, you will always start the waveform from above..After that if there is 1 you need to change the direction of waveform..If zero no change..

You can also start from bottom it depends on your choice Nandini. But you have to keep that fact in mind for polar nrz I that for 1 there is transition nd for 0 no transition
