And before you comment, yes, I am aware of my large hands. It's due to a heart condition I have known as Congestive Heart Failure. It causes fluid retention, primarily in the hands, feet/ankles, and face. Learn more about CHF here: cle.clinic/2Td...

01:55 - 400 Hz AC electricity is often used in aircraft that have AC generators in them. Keeps the size and weight of the generators down vs having ones that run on 50/60 Hz. The additional losses from higher frequency doesn't matter too much in aircraft since the transmission lines are so short. Man, this arb gen looks really good! I was looking at different options the other day trying to weigh them up for future projects I'll be doing. Haven't been into electronics in a long while so getting back into it and browing all the tools out there. Some really cool stuff now. Also, those Rigol HDO 12-bit scopes are game changers! Next on my list of things to buy. Definitely considering this arb gen, too. Kinda has a "Rigol feel" to it by the design.

Thank you for the info! I knew one of you guys would have an answer!

Yep, I was going to mention aircraft using 400HZ. I've heard of it being used in high speed industrial grinders but that was from my Dad's days in the PA steel mills.

@learnelectronics It looks like you duplicated the first 14 minutes. Just after the 14 minute mark it starts over.

PAUL, can you make another video giving examples of using the Waveform Generators CLOCK input, CLOCK output, SYNC Key, etc you can use paper to draw out examples to learn how to use these ports.

Hey Paul, I have the UTG962 sig gen and I believe it has a firmware problem where the signal output drops by 6 dB when you turn on AM Modulation, even if the Depth of Mod is 0%. Can you check this UTG4082 sig gen and see if it has the same issue?? (since the display and firmware seem very much the same) If you generate a sinewave at say 14 MHz (50 ohm) at say -30 dBm and then simply turn on AM Mod with 1 KHz sine does the level suddenly drop?? and no longer show what the display says the level should be???

I believe that connector is a DB-9 RS-232 serial interface.. Back before the advent of USB, RS-232 was the most common way for a computer to talk to peripherals.

That's pretty nice. UNI-Trend is coming along nicely. I would be interested to see what the accompanying PC software looks like and how it performs. This is definitely a step up from my JUNTEK PSG9800!

Nice video Paul! Wow what a generator! As others have mentioned, aircraft generators are at 400Hz. I designed a number of power supplies for military aircraft. The connector on front looks like a DB15 which was used a lot in the day. Has enough pins to do most things and easy to find shielded cables. Most computers had these back when. People doing serious lab work will still use these. This machine would take some time to learn half the functions:) Oh - and thanks so much for the call out!! 🎉
