Performance by Cardiff University Brass Band at UniBrass 2014
Conducted By: David Langley & Andrew Mitchell
Cardiff University Brass Band Society was formed to create a friendly musical environment for brass and percussion players at the university to socialise and make great music together. The band performs regular concerts at venues throughout the City of Cardiff, including the Millennium Stadium in 2011, and sometimes further afield.
In 2011 and 2012 respectively the band welcomed the renowned conductor Richard Evans and euphonium superstar David Childs, for two days of rehearsals and a concert; giving the members of the band two incredible opportunities to learn from the best in the business.
The band has competed at UniBrass since its inception, and has achieved three top 5 finishes, including a podium position at the inaugural contest in 2011.
In the 2014 Contest, the band will perform a set with the theme of "Modern World, Modern Music". The programme includes the premiere performance of a new March written by Martin Humphries, a postgraduate composer at the Cardiff University School of Music.
