I’m gay and am genuinely surprised and sceptical that they would have gay marriage for the main character but not have the option for a female main character. I’ve been dicked around with the gay options especially with Japanese games so I’m gonna be surprised if the guy marriage options are not just “we’re technically married but not in like a gay way” like if it’s going that route I’d rather they just only allow you to marry women or have a female mc option so I can marry guys. The game looks great otherwise I’m just tempering my expectations so I don’t get disappointed.
This. Also, I just read Alain as Straight. None of his interactions with men have had the same flirtatious subtext as with say Scarlett or Melisandre. It feels like it's tacted on and a bit souless. I've romanced Dorian in Dragon Age, I can't go back to token gay love interests
I got into Fire Emblem because of Awakening. Believe it or not, I really liked the marriage system. Playing the matchmaking god with actual gameplay implications since the offsprings stats, skills and classess varies depending on the pairing.
Also got into FE because of Awakening, and the marriage system played a significant role into FE becoming one of my favorite game franchises. Im not gonna lie and I wish more people admitted it: I love it because its just fun. Its fun to get to know cool characters and pair them up like when playing with dolls when we were children. Not to mention how that made combat more impactful: when a character died, a child became an orphan and someone became a widow/widower.

a RPG exclusive channel is already niche… but a cooking channel based on that audience could be insanely small! Not to mention… cooking channels look rly expensive to produce. Lighting, cooking equipment, ingredients, the space to fit all that… If u can cook and bake RLY notable or iconic dishes from gaming, i can see that being reposted all over the place. Like, the Zelda shield as a cake, or the cake from portal… don’t know, things like that. I would wager how expensive it could rly be to pull that off consistently, and market it as another channel separate from this, cause i don’t see those audiences intermingling. Does sound fun to try, but it could be a huge risk to even attempt, considering the amount of cooking channels out there. Still, u cam start rly small things and see if theres any organic growth :)

Really, my idea would be to have a more down home approach, less produced and more authentic, if that makes sense, with the final product shots bring the only real glamour. Something relatable and fun you know?maybe it's a hopeless pipedream long term, but it would be fun to do, and my GF and I would still be eating what we make so it's not a total loss or anything.

This comment might be a little past its prime in terms of discussing information, but at 4:50 you mention certain characters like scarlet gaining more rapport due to possibly story reasons because she has two hearts next to her name, but i actually think thats incorrect. The graphic shows that all 5 characters got +5 rapport for participating in a squad together. The two hearts represents the stage of their rapport as shown at 6:09 Lex and Chloe are both at stage 1, Scarlet is at stage 2. The only info ive seen about a character gaining more rapport for specific reasons was the tavern system in which if you discover a character's favorite food, they get bonus rapport with the other participants for liking the food.
Very exciting year 2024. I just wondering can I finish FF7 Rebirth before the 8th of March for this game though. So far it look like hundreds of hours for gameplay to say the least. I think you should cover the characters as they are release and do a summary just before the game drops and that's my opinion.
As a Fire Emblem fan who has just finished 13 Sentinels, I just can't believe this game even exists! I'm as excited as I was about Zelda about this one!
I've never played Fire Emblem and "Ogre Battle" games seem confusing to me at face value. But I like stories like this and I think I could enjoy a game like this! (The closest game I've played that I think comes close to this is Pokemon Conquest.)
3:27, is this a screenshot of a modded Fire Emblem Awakening? If memory serves, Basilio (and a lot of other late game units) could only support Robin (and by extension, Morgan) and Flavia.
Will it have a PC version? Vanillaware has never released their games for PC as far as i k ow, which is a shame since it forces me to sail the seven seas of emulators, if you know what I mean.
For the love of God, stop saying "Fire Emblem" so much. You referenced Fire Emblem more times than mentioning the word Unicorn, let alone Unicorn Overlord. As for a food channel, yes! Definitely. They are awesome. You should also do an all character breakdown once they're all released, though you could do them individually in drops and do a final one with all characters combined at the end.
@@TitaniumLegman It's a great franchise, and I especially love the GBA and GameCube entries, but I swear I got semantic satiation from that video. As for similar games, try 13 Sentinels from the same studio, and it's also got a bit of an Ogre Battle / Brigandine: Legends of Runersia vibe to it. Symphony of War that came out last year is also a great comparison.
All that aside - THIS is what HD-2D should refer to. I'm tired of modern games pretending to be SNES titles claiming that title as it suggests that's the path forward for 2D games. No it's not. It's a nice and modern take on retro gaming, a niche direction. The actual advancement in 2D graphics is much closer to this. I mean even in Playstation One era he had Breath of Fire IV where sprites weren't pixelated mess, but actually looked detailed and polished. Dunno what happen in the recent 20 years, but glad to see someone dug out the idea of pushing 2D graphics forward, finally.

As a very old FE fan I've always liked the marrying mechanic and even the kids mechanic, people tend to forget or not know FE4 already had both of them. Sure it made more sense and was better written there than on other games but the mechanic is still cool IMO. I'm glad I found out about this game a couple days ago because it looks pretty interesting, thx for the info.
All of us when Unicorn Overlord was announced: "Oh, its like Ogre Battle without the rapport system." Unicorn Overlord this week: "No no, we have the rapport system, don't worry!" I wonder if it'll work like the Ogre Battle: Person of Lordly Caliber system? In that game, if casters on the same row had their friendship level high enough, they'd begin to combine their magic spells into one super AoE spell. So you could use a witch (status-only) and an enchantress (damage-only) and they'd cast together and hit an area with a spell that might do fire damage plus inflict stun or sleep or something on whoever it hits. I still remember facing two enemy sphinx with high rapport in the hidden level and watching them combine their magic into a spell so powerful it wiped out an entire unit in a single hit. But it was a fun mechanic that encouraged you to keep characters together to let them be friends. That gave them a kind of camaraderie by the end game. Plus a lot of cheering moments in the early game the first time they started casting together.
Though if we're talking Ogre Saga systems I wish someone would steal, let's talk about how Knight of Lodis had this weird progression system that used essentially proto-achievements to unlock classes. Killing dragons unlocked dragoons, impaling two units in one attack to get valkyrie, using an AoE to hit four units at once to unlock warlock, recruiting beasts to unlock beast tamer, etc. That was a lot of fun.
Re: Character Profiles - it may be interesting to see the characters as they come; and once all released, do a video of all of them and you're personal preference of most likely most played to most likely least played

For me the marriage mechanic was never an issue, but more the player characters in certain tactical rpgs (fire emblem is pretty guilty of this as of late) having the personality of a paper towel, if any personality at all. I can kinda understand the reason why. The developers want your character to be a sort of blank slate so you can kind of insert yourself in the main characters shoes and marry whomever it is you fancy. But the drawback is the character has little...well...character. Kinda hard to feel anything for the character, really. I much prefer the main character have a personality even if it makes it not as easy to 'insert' into them Also incestuous stuff was a thing going as far back Genealogy of Holy War, the fourth (and quite liked) Fire Emblem. Plenty of moments where you can have distant (or not so distant) relatives falling for each other. And I got this pre-ordered now. Always did like Vanillaware. Hopefully this'll turn out better than Engage because I was kinda disappointed with that one.
Oh for sure, I know all about Genealogy. But there has been an uptick in incestuous themes in fantasy, especially western style fantasy as done by Japan, due to the influence of Game of Thrones in the last 5-10 years. As far as characterization, it certainly seems thus far that Alain will be an actual character in his own right, so hopefully his relationships will be a bit more meaningful.

The only fe4 pairings I can think of that are super incestuous are Febail/Lana and Lester/Patty. Or rather, pretty much all of the incest in that game is scripted, being purposefully put there by Kaga without any player input. Kaga's done it again
Replicating video game food recipes seems quite interesting with me. I don't know of any channel that do this (mainly cuz I'm not that good at cooking myself). But since you like to cook, might as well try it. Go for it, my man. Worst case scenario, you end up with new recipes to enjoy.
Not sure if you'd like to know, but Alain being a French name, you don't actually pronounce the N. So it's like you're saying it, but without the N sound. Figured it could be fun to know considering French is my first language :P

Cooking would be dope! Very neat! I can't always watch your videos cause I try to avoid certain spoilers, but cooking videos would be a great way to watch the content without that!
the art is so beautiful here but i feel this game is more like suikoden than final fantasy tactics/tactics ogre reborn which are more my speed. its cool you're drawing attention to this though. was hoping this was grid-based with smaller teams (similar to redemption reapers). the character designs are gorgeous and the food looks delicious. Berengaria looks awesome. sadly, it looks like there's no multiclassing or a diversified skill tree here and customization will be primarily through equipment which bores me.
I'm hyped for the game being released having grown up with OB March of the Black Queen and OB64 and loving the visuals for 13 Sentinels Aegis. I'm food lover myself if you ever get that channel going to try and make the different recipes sign me up for it!
Preordered the game a while ago, i'm glad I did it, this game looks like it's going to be a blast! Also, at the final part of the video you asked if we want the characters in a whole video or if we wnated it sprinkled in some videos, personally I prefer the whole lot in one video, as we're talking about vanillaware who makes almost perfect characters. Thank God the rapport system is not just Alain with others. One of my favorite things about Fire Emblem is playing matchmaker/friendmaker with all the characters and seeing the different dynamics. Also glad Alain is his own character and not a self-insert. I mean, I don't mind self-insert characters but if there's only a male option I prefer it to be a full, independent character.
This can't come quickly enough. I have waited decades for another game like Ogre Battle. TBH I am surprised (as popular as the original was. I had pre-ordered it at Electronics Boutique, and there was a horde of people grabbing it up) that its taken THIS LONG for someone to make something along the same vein. And it looks incredible. Now, if only Shining Force and Dark Wizard.......
My only worries are the localization. With how they've taken liberty to change/remove things in the recent fire emblem and frankly a lot of games in the recent years. I'll probably will only buy if there's a fan translation for the JP copy.
I think in fe engage if you choose to "mary" a certain character that is a child the conversation is not romantic but in the japanese version it is. Which is kinda fucked up @@guutenks2498
It doesn't add much to a game, but it attract some kinds of players. I mean, take a look at Persona. I personally know MANY people online and IRL who play Persona games only for the dating simulator and harem thing (some hate the comabt system and say that Atlus should add marriage and pregnancy systems too)

Almost feeling like it's leaning ~too much~ into the FE element similarities now, but hardest fingers crossed they strike the right balance!
A covenant is simply a pack or a sworn relationship, which can either be romantic or be sworn brothers, etc. The details within the interactions themselves is gonna be key, and I hope they don't disappoint on that end instead of being just generic, vague, and half-as.

I imagine the marriage feature will be rather small, maybe a cutscene at the end? I think they let you marry people from both genders, because you only get a male avatar. This also removes the possibility of child units, like in awakening.
Dang, i was really hoping it wasn't going to be the ogre battle style "combat" system. Im not a fan of just watching the combat play out in front of me. I was really excited about this one too, oh well.
