Found a dis-guarded vape Unicorn Zkittles Pack Man vape with a USB C connector, push button & lovely extruded aluminium body. It wouldn't come apart easily and the wires connecting the two PCB's broke off. Analysed the circuit including the 800mA LP4068 charge controller IC. The LP4068 data sheet schematic shows it contains two back to back FETs as found in many protection boards. I wrongly I assumed the LP4068 FET could be used for discharge protection this may have resulted in the shorting of a diode resulting in a charging LED always lighting. After reconnecting the wires, tested the circuit for charging current and voltage. Used the circuit to control one of my models. If carefully connected (lithium cells can be dangerous) I assume this electronic circuit could be used to charge other vape cells.
