Thank you sir for pointing out something extremely important to me (batteries) .. having access to easily and readily available batteries in a pinch is very important to me . I’ll keep my BCD436HP . Thank you
I was really torn between these two, but opted for the older and less expensive 436HP, since it's lighter and can run on AA bats. I should be getting it sometime today in the mail. Will add my thoughts after it arrives.
I had both and when comparing side by side, the 436HP is the better scanner. If simulcast is your main issue, go with the SDS100. The 436HP has better audio, and better sensitivity in VHF/UHF, will decode more DMR & NXDN channels, AA batteries are in every store, and can use just about any SMA antenna.
Good comparison, but the biggest comparison you never mention was the differences in the Displays. Which one can you see better in the Sun? I'm trying to decide on which one to buy, but the display and brightness on the SDS100 looks amazing compared to the 436.
Can you scan and charge with the SDS100? I see conflicting messages about this. The BCD436HP can't charge while scanning but it doesn't drain the batteries in that case.
hoping you can answer me... the 436 scanner has a zip code button.. can i just put in my zip code number and it'll pick up whatevers in that zip and work out the box or it more complicated than that?..? im thinking of getting the 436 scanner but its not cheap...
Hey Steve, I’m updating my 436 and I seem too remember you said in band defaults that the 108 to 136 was the wrong step ? What’s the correct step ? Thanks .
Dear, can I ask you, the Uniden bcd436hp can be used in another country like Chile for example ?. Since I have seen in radioreference that the parameters to configure to be able to listen to the police here in this country come out but I want to know if it can be programmed and if it will be very difficult to do it. Could you please help me, I want to buy one of these equipment but I want to be sure and that the equipment does not end up as a paper trail. Cheers
Go into Radio Reference and go to Chile, take a look at the frequencies you want to listen to, if there is a (DE) THIS MEANS IT'S encrypted and you will not be able to listen to it, if you want to listen to DMR or NXDN digital systems the you will need to buy the upgrades from Uniden to listen too these two digital systems, I'm sorry I can not help you any further I live in Canada don't know anything else about Chile systems. You can go onto Radio reference and post your questions on the Chile FORUM and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
@@stevestdenis7884 Thank you very much for your information, it was very relevant to me. They are effectively encrypted, which is why I avoid spending a lot of money on a paper press. Regards.
Hello, very good video, thank you for it. My name is Gleb, I'm from Ukraine. We currently use Uniden scanners for military purposes. I would like to ask you a few questions and would be happy to hear from you. We can contact by email?
Steve: i have both scanners as well. The SDS100 is much better on simulcast than the 536. : run the sds100 in lower display, and you can lengthen battery life by increasing it to 3.50. Also while scanning set your squelch to turn off screen after 5 seconds. Also run the scanner in simple display mode. You can pick and choose whixh items you have on there. I get between 8-10 hours on the SDS, 5-8 On the 436. The size thing is a bit of a drag for sure thou
Thank Ejb905 for the info I already practiced all the things you pointed out to make the batteries last longer, I have SOLD the SDS100 scanner I had so it's not a issue for me any longer, but the tips you posted will come in handy for people who own the SDS100 scanner.
@@eskwadrat can’t you charge it from automotive battery or solar power? Besides when shtf, depending on how it unfolds, I doubt you’ll be worried about a scanner! Better to invest in precious metals (lead and brass) and a good thermal scope!!
When you say not very good what do you mean? Does the scanner not perform well? Best scanner on the market for the last 3 or so years! Now the SDS200 best Scanner by far hands down! But anyway the sds100 is a great scanner! Thanks for the honest review mu friend much appreciated! I have both SDS100 and SDS200 ans love them they work wonderful bets scanners I have ever had! Good idea on the spare battery I have 3 lol!
There are a lot of business's that will call security, and have you removed from the premises, also some people do not want to hear your scanner for different reasons.
I'm got into the hobby, I started with the baofeng UV-9R. its getting few good Freq but im wondering if you listing to CN/CP and if its digital or analog. military freq i didnt even think of. i like the joke you made about the scanner.
I listen to the railroad frequencies in the Niagara area around Fort Erie Ont. AND Buffalo NY. they are analog but some are changing over to NXDN digital, it's a slow change over going on, I only have one or two frequencies that are digital so far. I also listen to Military Aircraft, just do a search in the military air band 225-380 MHz and see what you can pick up. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Steve
Sal, I also had the 436 before I purchased the SDS100. We have a lot of simulcast systems in my part of the world (SW Ohio/Northern KY) and although the 436 was not horrible, the SDS100 is way better. It literally changed my life making the systems that I want to hear all come in really well.
Lmao 😅 Damn guy you would really be hating working for the government and carrying a big 2 way Motorola that will last about 6 hours on 1 battery. All it has is a basic display and numbers to program and change through the numerous channels that you have. The 100 is about the same size of what I carried for 25 years. With a awesome screen and a Hell of a lot more information. Which by the way helps to drain your battery. My advice would be to dim it as low as possible or turn it off if you can. Or just make it black and white. Also if you don't need to scan all the time turn that off. I'm just saying you are complaining about stuff that can be better. As far as the size and being discreet well those are ridiculous to begin with. Get a base for home. Use the other's for travel.
I don't care about the brick. More the deafness, the garbage looking 'coder project' screen display, and the junk battery which was never meant to be that way because the 4th point against this radio for me, Uniden released a half finished radio and scrambled to try and make it not junk, for a second time just like with the 436HP. Uniden is down the garbage and their radios are junk, not to mention the microtransactions. Complete scam for overindulgent simps and infants too whacked out on feeling special about themselves to notice their mental deficiencies.
