Dang it’s over 4 years old? This is still top of the line and sold out at some stores..

KC2ZKC here, good video, lost count of scanners I have owned, and at my local shop that does Ham equip install, I had them run RG for a CB, and heard about the SDS 100, so am ordering soon, after a return from a NC trip in a few days. Good video.

To charge and run at the same time you need to go to MENU then Battery Option and select Charge while Run

So far im not impressed with the sds100 every video i watch its missing traffic that other scanners are picking up. I have the 436 and i get a lot of simulcasts distortion in my house my area is all p25 digital simulcasts. I was hoping to get this scanner but im now thinking of the Unication g5 or g4 even though that isn't a scanner. Which would you recommend the SDS100 or the Unication G4 or G5? not sure what the difference is between the 4 and 5? Thanks Can you do a review of which is better the Uniden STS100 or the Unication G4 G5 ?

You know the scanners at David put out we can't find them around the state of Indiana where I live I'd like to know where we can get them or at least how to get one to try and see if they even work

one of the BEST aftermarket antennas is the Radio Shack telescoping Center Loaded HAM radio antenna, its for HT's and its Closed at 6 Inches and fully extended at 26 Inches, you can tune the Antenna easily by adjusting the size of the antenna, also the center load means you don't need a Gound Plane to operate it, Bonus you can Transmit up to 5 watts with this antenna if you have a Tranceiver. its great for monitoring SW, HF utilities, MW , and the conventional and Digital frequencies as well, all the way up to 1.3 Ghz. perhaps a little more.

Re-packaged 436. At the very least, you can add new batteries at any time with the 436. Uniden, decided upon a cell phone battery deal. Either carry around charged batteries, or wait ??? hours for a charge. Thanks for your time.

Is the only reason you really need the USB utilized for the scanner due to having to update the firmware or update the database? That is all I use it for for my 436hp...just curious...

SPOILER ALERT: HE NEVER GET THE RADIO TO RECEIVE A DECENT TRANSMISSION I'm about 37 mins into this review and you are still updating your Sentinel software and running into all kinds of problems, etc. You should go back and EDIT this review and take out all of non-relevant issues like the time it takes for you to correct your errors and update your computer. The Scanner is so new that the very first thing you should do is update the firmware and the database since there have already been many updates. You glossed over the little card that was included in the box about the battery and didn't get around to explaining it until 48 mins into it. You keep apologizing about how you were in a rush, and it being time for dinner and kids coming in the room and I just wanted to hear the scanner work. Every few seconds you keep promoting your webpage that's fine but this is not a review of the scanner. this is just a video of you trying to fumble with updates to your software. 55 mins in and you just figured out you updated the wrong profile. 59 mins in and it's running and nothing being heard. The video just ended and you never got it to receive a decent transmission. This video was done on June 6 so what's the update? Did you get it working ? You say you are scanner school but you dont even have your own computer updated before you post a video. We are now into August and no update, so it's been like a month and you still dont have any update. You should take this video down and give an update on what's going on or you should edit this one and tell people to see your update first that you never got it working .

Try having the mic further away and crank up the gain to not get that dry and unpleasant audio. If you don't have an audio processor with a compressor/limiter they're something like $100-$200 or are probably available in most computer audio software.

I am an Extra K2QXQ. I am torn on this scanner. I have my BAOFENG on the County site. I have an old scanner I paid $5. I like the 100. But it is more money than my 705 for what it does.

Why is the Uniden software application so hard to use ? Whistler has a NICE clean interface and its well organized. super easy to program and update the Whistler scanners.

The antenna situation is bad, maybe the answer is to use the adapter they give you with a BNC Ant. Real bad design...break out the Dremel.

Hey Phil, you need to piss off that huge green/yellow advertising signage banner thing at the bottom of your video with your head poking above it, and lessen the vast amount of black space above your head. Mate, you need to get your 'studio' organised a lot better visually and present your subject matter in a more organised way!

For those of us who don't have an hour and forty minutes to spare, it would be nice if you added time stamps showing what times you cover each feature.

Fair to poor review....lack of preparation, etc. I'm sure he is nice guy and fine American, but the overall presentation here is a bit tedious and long winded, and is not heavily fact-filled. Anyone willing to take the time to do these reviews is doing more/less a public service, as the little bit of revenue derived is not going to make anyone rich. Overall, don't base your buy / don't buy decision for the scanner on this demonstration. There are better demonstrations out there.

At 1:27:24...you show a picture in manual...obviously there are no "arrows" pointing at the led lights...however right above the photo of the radio is the DESCRIPTION telling you what the led's are for....R.T.F.M.(read..the..fn'..manual)...dude slow your mind down an just breathe

no thanks, I prefer to wait for the NEW Whistler TRX-100 & 200 I/Q scanner with LMR , bonus FREE NXDN and DMR . unfortunately UNIDEN charges to upgrade NXDN , DMR receive as well as other Digital modes.
