This week, Paul Lukas and Chris Creamer welcome their first guest to the virtual uni-studio with Los Angeles Dodgers design director Ross Yoshida. Ross discusses what it's like designing for such an historic organization, his beginnings in the industry, as well as the process that goes behind designing the various logos, patches, and other elements for a Major League Baseball team. There was so much that the interview had to be broken up into two parts, stay tuned for the second half in episode 10.
In our weekly news roundup Chris and Paul look at the New York Mets going back to black, the Marlins selling the naming rights to their stadium, and a bunch of leaked WNBA jerseys which suggest they're following Nike's NBA path with special regional "City Edtion" style looks.

Many in Milwaukee are upset about Miller Park becoming American Family Field even though they're both corporate sponsorships. People know the brand Miller, but it sounded more like a family name and it made sense for a team named the Brewers to play in a beer brand stadium.

I can’t stand when teams that don’t actually have black in their color palette, use black as an alternate uniform. But the nets uniforms in black never hit me the wrong way. Especially the black hat with the orange logo.

Ad on the back sounds a bad idea, imagine looking back at NBA finals and seeing images of a player dunking with a large ad on the back.

I understand that some of the fans don't like the black uniforms because they aren't "original team colors". But the Mets essentially borrowed their entire identity from the NY (baseball) Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers. From my perspective, the Black uniforms were always a nod to the GIants.

They didn't "borrow" the look and certainly not their identity, to think that is to ignore 59 years of a rather unique franchise. They used one color from each team that abandoned N.Y.. The Mets will forever be "The Blue and Orange", the black is a nod to an unfortunate fad from the 1990's.
