Over 400 junior high students from the Davis School District took to the Valley View golf course for the first annual Unified Golf event. With the guidance of golf pros, students learned the basics of putting, chipping, and driving.
“We want kids to find something they love, so when they graduate, they can enjoy these activities with their own families,” Healthy Lifestyles Director Dr. Tim Best said.
But it was about more than just golf - it was about building friendships, fostering mutual understanding, and discovering a lifelong love for physical activity.
“Golf is a lifelong sport. It teaches skills that they can enjoy individually or in groups for the rest of their lives,” Davis Education Foundation Executive Director Jodi Lunt said.
The Unified Golf Field Day is part of the "Show Up for Unified Sports" initiative, championed by Utah First Lady Abby Cox and Special Olympics Utah. A very special thanks to the Rich Day Group and the Davis Education Foundation for making this event possible.
