Agreed- I went to the union site and they really do miss out on opportunities to push other Nike products associated with their collaborations. For example if they’re doing this collaboration with the Cortez, I understand that they’re going to sell out of the fancy redesigned version, but they should sell other OG Cortez versions on their Union site too‼️‼️ major revenue brain fart if you ask me on the Union staff’s part‼️
Here in St.Louis. Our nickname for the Nike Cortez was "Dope-men Nike's" And that was because they were the only ones who could afford to get all the colorways. They also had a matching Dickies outfit to match the sneakers.
Definitely definitely a cop my pair is on the way and I couldn’t be more excited. Sleeper for sure just like the patta monarchs. People were insane on them once they really got to wear them
I hit on SNKRS (which looking back now, not a crazy W haha) & was excited about em. But in hand, they look too bulky while being too narrow for my wide foot. I also don’t necessarily like the cork bottoms or whatever it’s called. And with zero resale, I’ll just return em to NIKE
I wish they’d do a cortez react. Like they need to do more lifestyle stuff with react, like an air max 1 with react or whatever. But a oldschool nylon cortez with a react squish type sole would be so interesting
Think the resale on the sacai cortez will definitely be there and be a more hyped release, dont think it will take the cortez in general anywhere tho, its becoming a niche sneaker i'd say
Doesn’t make sense. You literally can look around anywhere and nike cortez’s are just sold out everywhere. So how would union have nike cortez to sell if even nike hasn’t made any pairs since
The problem with the Cortex in my experience is that quite a high percentage have a nasty tendency to experience midsole separation after 3-5 years, about 1/3 the time of most unstitched sneakers.
Not surprised, cortez shoes in the 1970's were meant to wear for a season and then replaced. Having said that my onitsuka corsairs have been going strong for 10 years as a street shoe.
I really liked these, but even a half size up, it’s still way too narrow for me 😂 I’m a wide footer too, and that’s exactly how it looks on my feet. The untied one, to be exact. I don’t think I could’ve tied the laces if I tried. 🤷🏻♂️
I actually copped and there not bad looking im sure these got a lot of heat because of the color wave and i get everyone loves and original but there nice they look clean
My oldest surviving pair is the blue nylon Cortez (17 years). Cortezes sucked in the old days, and they still suck. This Collab managed to make them even worse.
Regular Nike Cortez (like the basic Nylon) are getting quite hard to find and expensive now! People who like them actually wear them as shoes (and wear them out instead of holding them). These things are just ugly, people only buy 'em because they think they will be wort more in the future…(open your eyes) and the only "real" ones they released in quite a while now are the pride ones.. nah i'm good. Hope they start releasing normal ones… I could use some fresh ones...
