This is a video of a steam special running from Cape Town to various parts of the Eastern Cape in November 1993. The train stopped to refuel at Camfer, at the top of the Montagu Pass. It was raining cats and dogs; luckily there was a large open-ended goods shed for us to take shelter and video from. The locos were two GMAM Garratts - a lot of power!

Wow, this certainly brought back memories of my firing days at Voorbaai. I know both those garratts very well. Give me 4072 over 4122 any day. Sadly they robbed 4072s boiler and placed it onto 4122s frames in 1998 or so. They then scrapped 4072s frames and 4122s boiler. The two drivers in your clip are wonderful Twakies Barnard who was a great chap to work with and the one out in the rain is Manitjies Visser. Sadly neither of them are with us today.
