I've never used QuikSteel before. Can its rough edges be filed off, with the kind of hand files that are for filing metal surfaces? I'm a subscriber to your videos.
Yes sir! Sorry for the delay in response, been a little busy lately. Quick steel will have soft rock-like consistency. It can be drilled, tapped, and painted.
Try an see how hard it is to replace the key lock with an actual key. He also showed that the factory lock is extremely easy to pick. There are alot of safe style aftermarket locks, it would be interesting
I’m also interested in seeing what keyed alternatives there are. I’d prefer there be a manual dial instead of a key though. If I can’t find a better solution, I’m going to cover the key hole with a piece of tape then fill in/cover the key hole with quik steel or epoxy. The tape should protect the key hole in the event that a battery goes bad without warning
@@viktrp academy has a base line for 299 12 to 18 gun safe, and it has a cap for the reset button inside and it has a deep skeleton key as a backup to the electronic pad
I bought a harbor freight safe the smaller one the .37 cubic inch one and it's garbage. Brand new safe and it has two flaws not only the mechanism failing but the keypad itself can fail by entering a series of zeros or nines impressing the A button and it would open up. I've never been a fan of digital combination saves I prefer the dial combination which is much more reliable and time proven
Awesome vid, Thankyou for this. One other thing to mention. There is a cheap tool off Amazon that can still open this through the actual key hole. Or master key slot. Tool is very simple and can easily open it. Definitely another weak spot that could be fixed. Otherwise perfect solution
Avoid any safe that has an override key. Those barrel locks are easy to pick especially if you have an impressioning tool. The best combination (no pun intended) mechanical dial and a key to open the bolt mechanism.
I know this is two years old, but amazon sells the cylinder tool key for few dollars Plus I've seen them at other stores.. It would take me all of 10 seconds or less to get into your safe.
It would take you more than 10 seconds to get into my front door. But thanks for letting us know, I don't have this lock box anymore, it was for temporary use only.
@Jimrod1992 as I was writing that I said the same thing. (Not that I would) It would take me alot longer getting into the house and finding it. Bought one on sale for $119 and yup its going back for sure.
