I am from Surat, Gujarat. Visited Kerala in January and it was truly amazing. Kerala is really God's own country People respect Nature, culture and tradition which is nowadays disappearing in India in various parts.
Always comes without a tour package most of them understand English so it easy to travel across the state then only you can discover most of the places an operator will leads you to the famous destinations only

I already know people from South mostly Kerala are decent of all Indians I have ever met I myself from Mumbai and living in gulf for so long they are always there to help you no matter what the circumstances or religion or caste they don't care they go out of their way to help you humbly and I know Mark was also intrigued by their appalling hospitality !

Yes casava or tapioca as it is commonly known in India was actually introduced to Kerala by Portuguese from Brazil during colonial times. I know Casava is a native plant from Brazil. In malayalam language of Kerala we call it Kappa. Kappa is now a traditional national food of Kerala. The best combination with Kappa is hot Kerala fish curry. I love sardine curry with Kappa. The other different combination with Kappa are all the different types of fish curries, fried fish, dry salted fish, chilli chutnies, different types of beef like beef curry, beef fry, beef roast and beef ribs Kappa biriyani. It is damn yummy man. Now actually we do have various seasons for planting Kappa. Kappa planted in between March and April is actually so delicious. The difficulty during the cultivation of Kappa is how to protect it from wild boars. These animals are a real pain in the A@#$.

Mark almost learned that Indian culture, how to eat, how to fold banana leaf after finishing meal. I've noticed mark nervous smile in front of grandma while setting on the dinning table. 'typical indian food that you find in the standard menu in all the many indian restaurants around the world in no way represents the best indian food with a very few exceptions.
@@LBINLONDON2010 to add to that, from my experience in India, a lot of the current generation of cooks in the by the way standard menu restaurants are a step down from the previous generation of cooks forgetting how to offer for eg. a succulent tandoori chicken while serving instead dry chewy or even a bland Chinese fried rice as opposed to how lip smacking they used to be that most places one ordered from, that one couldn't go wrong with.
Kerala food is very very different.... Kerala beef , chicken curry , Kerala fish fry and fish curry... Very very tasty......Kerala malabari biriyani was so tasty
@y r U don't know anything about my state , you must know more and study further dude. Beef is just cuisine and depends upon person whether they like to eat or not. Since 3 days my Breakfast is Kappa boiled with fish and prawns fry, jackfruit i use as staple food during the season. Rice we eat also different from most, we eat Red rice most times.

For those who are curious about the beef consumption in Kerala, here we eat all kinda meat. From beef to pork. This is the piece of land in india which is more versatile than the entire country itself.
U eat it sell it we have no problem but that doesn't make u special....other parts too are good in there cuisine without beef btw.....from a beef banned state of maharashtra 😉
