This pattern is written in US terms. It requires basic knowledge which is how make chains (ch), half double crochet (hdc) and slip stitch (sl st).
What I love about this pattern is that there is no wrong side. Both sides are gorgeous and exactly the same, which is great for a lot of crochet project.
