I found a form of quartz I have not seen before. It is clear as glass and crystalline but has grown in sheets between layers of mica giving it a silver crocodile skin texture on the outer surface. Many of the pieces have such organic forms that they look like fossilized bones.

The La Gardette quartz just looks like a similar one in display in Bourg d'Oisans ( Musée des Minéraux et de le Faune des Alpes) A "must see" if you ever visit this area in the french Alps !
