Yes, I find it worthwhile. First, it's useful to you and fills a need you had in your shop. Second, it's a wonderful example to others how to repurpose items, especially items that seem to have no other use. Mostly, this was entertaining. To watch you figure as you go was so much fun. Thanks, Neil, for another wonderful infrastructure video.

Heh heh - more importantly, it shows how you can clean up something that to all intents and purposes looks like it's probably useful for nothing but scrap metal and turn it into a respectable, utilitarian piece of workshop furniture 🌞 Not saying it involved a trivial amount of work though - because although it _looks_ easy and only took 20 minutes on screen, this was _not_ a minor undertaking!

You and Matthias Wandel have been really hitting the spot for me recently- it's not necessarily always about the big grandiose projects. I love seeing the creativity and unique style that comes out when a craftsman aims to accomplish a small or quirky task. The attention to detail is a pleasure to observe. Thanks Pask!

I love this kind of repurposing. I loved the repurposed bandsaw cabinet. I had a similar shelf like that I used for quick access tools. It had 2 lever knobs. It ended up being annoying having the 2 knobs. I eventually made the door hold closed with magnets, when you open and close a cabinet like that several times a day, it can get bothersome unlatching two knobs. Everything about your quick access storage needs to be as convenient as possible in my opinion.
@PaskMakes

Glad you enjoyed it! I have to tell you that even though the bandsaw cupboard has two knobs on each door, I only ever use one. I reckon this cabinet will be the same. :)

Neil, I am not a metal worker, or any type of maker. However, I have lost countless hours watching your excellent videos! Your down to earth commentary and obvious skill make the videos seem to fly by! It is clear that you get as much pleasure making these projects as we do watching them. I love when you say things like "The easy way to do this is (whatever)... But I prefer to make it myself just because I like it!!" You never seem to take the easy way out or take short cuts. You are also very encouraging to others, when you explain how a job can be done just as well with simple hand tools - you don't NEED all the big machines to get the same results. Thank you for all your work, and keep it up! Cheers!

Always an adventure - starting with "I'll just do this little thing" then 3-4 jobs later you ask yourself what was I doing again. Nice repurposing of materials. Had a niece give me a musical birthday card which she got a kick out of - in return I made a toy chest with a Greeting Card mechanism that plays music on opening. $8 on ebay & record whatever you like.

What impresses me most is your ability to spend so much time on one basic item. I would have whipped something up in 1/2 the time but it would not have had the same style as your solution. I just can't dedicate that much time to a basic need. You really are an artist.

Videos like this are awesome because they show people that almost anything can have a new life as something else. It also keeps something out of the bin (even the recycling bin). I was born in Africa and came to the UK when my grandparents and Mum decided to come home to the UK. In the Western world, if something breaks, it normally just gets dropped in a bin and people buy a new item to replace it. Thankfully people are finally learning from the developing nations that always try to fix things or turn them into something else. We're getting better at it, but we have so much further to go. Emagine a future where there are no more rubbish dumps or land fill sites? Where anything and everything can be fixed and everything that has finally reached the end of its many lives can be fully recycled. I'm hoping that I might see that day. It's videos like this that will help to push our world in that direction 😊👍👍👍👍👍

Hey mate, you could connect the two opening/closing knobs with a bracket to serve as a handle, so by pulling it down and backward it unscrews the locking mechanism and you could open the door easily.
