Would absolutely love it if unique toys did a 2007 Optimus and megatron. The mpm molds are great. But i'm confident unique toys can do better.

Takara dealt with the underwhelming mid section of the truck by covering it with his shroud. I think that if UT could only have done something about those two stupid flaps that tying the shroud around the truck like the Takara version did would have done the trick. I suspect that is what BMB's gonna do when they KO this thing...

It's seasonal for unique toys to come out of the blue with an incredible figure every once in a while

Boys he got it and i absolutely love it! My only grip is alot of the paint since i wish it was a creamish color with brown and metal but thats just me still pretth beautiful. If only i was rich to get him

Once this figure fully releases, Ima try and get one as I actually like the look of it, the robot mode looks more accurate than the Alien Attack version as you said, though I agree that the oil tanker in the alt mode is quite a mess. it still comes together nicely though. Anyways, nice job!

Unique toys seems to understand that if something needs to be compromised to make the figure better it should be the vehicle mode. Because let’s be honest most people won’t permanently display their transformers in their vehicular form. This figure looks awesome. Definitely will be looking out for a way to get him over here in the Netherlands

Unique toys seems to REALLY enjoy making Megatron and Optimus prime. Perhaps a DOTM Optimus prime is in the making?

I'm not too bothered by the oil tanker part, since you can mostly cover it with the tarp, which is accurate to the film and counts as vehicle mode storage. Plus it doesn't partsform like AAT, nor is it too short, like AAT. I'm definitely going to be painting this thing up though! Lots and lots of detail that can still be added, plus bringing out more of the rust color.

I'm glad you mentioned the colors, because I've seen everyone get their pre-production samples of Desperado and they're all this weird sort of- mint green with rust. Which feels weird because Unique Toys have been so on the ball otherwise with the colors on their previous figures. I really hope this is just a pre-production thing and the final product will be either a shade of tan or brown, or like you said, at least a more desaturated green, if they're gonna stick with that. To quote a wise man, it would be _"a single black mark on an otherwise perfect figure"_ because color aside, this really is the best DotM Megs has ever looked, non-transforming Prime1 statue nonwithstanding

This looks great. However, I’m not keen on the colour of the body vs the head. Seems like a more sandy/tan colour overall would make it pop more instead of the green hue vs the silver head. Slightly disappointed myself but I’ll wait and see if they do some variants.

18:55 you would need to make sure the shoulder ratchets are pushed in all the way and there shouldn’t be a gap in between them; at least that’s what worked for me to get the back of the trailer to line up better:)

17:54 I feel like this is a knit pick for 2 reasons. 1. We barely ever saw the tanker itself nor his alt mode in the movie besides like 2 quick shots (Also, I think the tarp was always over it) 2. As a wise man once said... "NO SACRIFICE. NO VICTORY!"

Absolutely amazing , but I wish it was the same size as alien attack ,it's just a little big.. I hope someone scales it down a little bit.

It's definitely not a bad figure but that tanker part definitely suffers. I still think I want to pick him up tho. So much of it looks cool. And I will always take a figure with slight comprises over a parts former. Good review tho. Hit all the major beats.

I am most deffinetly getting this because it's incredible and now I want unique toys to do a TLK or AOE Bumblebee because the official figures of those 2 are..... yes. But super happy UT has returned and hope to see more stuff from them :D

The altmodes definitely suffers, but I personally couldn't care less. A figure like this, I'd get for the robot mode alone. Even if it couldn't transformer, I'd still want this figure.

I like this, but I don't know if I love it. There's not anything wrong with this figure either, I think. Likely it's more to do with so many variant over the decade of the same iconic characters that saturated my collection. But this is just me. Still nice to see the effort being made for a worthwhile figure. Notwithstanding, great video. Thanks!

Hey, the truck mode may have been a sacrifice, but the robot mode looks SO good! A fair tradeoff if you ask me, and you can just cover the tanker with the tarp XP

i like that is more accurate and also it has an easy transformation (imo) compared to alien attack dotm megatron, it makes me believe that hasbro will end up updating the ss version with more detail and transformation steps.

Thanks for your great review. I agree with your take man, the Truck mode got nerfed a lot, it looks bad. The only way to fix is to have the cape and chains, I think you should have tried that because it makes it a much acceptable piece. But man the bot mode, simply blown out. Amazing design, details, insane heft and looks massive and imposing as he should be. The biggest disaster is that paint, UT never got this paint issue only one was UT-R02 first but later paint was solid. Nero was outstanding, Dragoon was great except the poor head sculpt without mask overall the paint work is good but the color is very very bad. I'm going to wait for a Desert version. As for next UT figure, I would love Nitro Zeus, I want a Jet !! Or Peterbilt Prime which is probably surely coming and ofc Sentinel, to finish the Trinity. And ofc Starscream by UT would be killer too.

I agree with you the green just sets me off and yeah he was a lot more darker rusted and worn and the green looks really weird especially with the head because the head is silver/gun metal

I do own 2 of them that i keep my alien attack version of DOTM Megatron in Truck Mode and i keep my Unique toys version of DOTM Megatron in his robot mode so i can mess around with the poses like the scene when he was talking to Carly in the Alley Way or the scene that Megatron beats up Sentinel Prime or having Megatron killing the Travis Knight version of Bumblebee by having him holding Bumblebee's head an having him step on the lifeless body of Volkswagen Bumblebee or the scene when Megatron was choking Starscream from the DOTM game

I suspect they might be reserving the more accurate sand color scheme for a future release... I don't know if UT incurs into those practices though.

Great review thanks! Please keep using this music as opposed to the other dance/dubstep stuff! I'll keep my Macron in truck mode and this guy in bot mode although he'll need a sepia wash and some silver dry sponge work to mitigate that green, not sure what they were thinking with that choice. Nice to see he's big too!

I think the head is just a little too big, looks cool though. Really wish they did a better color for the main body, AAT looks better paint scheme wise. But I can actually mess around with this guy without being terrified of breaking him lol

still think im gonna wait to see what NewAge does with their Megatron, Sculpt wise, NewAge looks best of all 3, in both modes, and its slightly taller still. but havent seen paint yet. That will be main deciding factor.

If you have both it seems like itd be best to display Alien Attack in the truck mode and this one in the robot mode.

I'm not sure if anyone mention this but have you try to use the cloth or Megs hood to cover up the gastank. I mean the cloth is part of his truck mode. It's just wraps around the back of the truck.

I really love how they made Desperado the same height as TLK Megatron when TLK Megs was supposed to be slightly shorter

Honestly I like the look of the tanker on the Unique toys desperado than the aat Megatron. Besides the dark of the moon Megatron was a retired military tanker. I loved your review, keep up the amazing work.

this figures transformation reminds me a lot of the ss megatron bc the legs become the cab and the body becomes the front of the oil tank and the arms become the back of it also i dont mind the oil tanker, it looks better imo like the way it is now is just too boring this gives it character and more intensity

Man this is a gorgeous figure, the sculpture detailing and its robot mode is the best compared to Alien Attack version. But the color scheme is not right. Hope they will fix the color for the final product.

The fact that you just don't want to transform the Alien Attack in truck mode for the truck comparison speak volume. I'd take a messy tanker over a painful transformation any days.

Was expecting the head spikes to be more sharper, size he is huge, tiny bit too big for mmp scale. Back seems too flat to me aswell, but amazing solid figure. Still think galvatron is there best.

when is the clean version coming out? i think the clean version is less expensive

Man, Unique Toys never really misses but this isn't a complete W either. Robot mode and transformation are great, like always with Unique Toys, lots of sculpted and painted details, good possability and clever transformation without over complex engineering. Personally I don't like the bullet holes in the head, they're not really accurate but don't hurt the look of the figure. But HOLY SHIT that greenish plastic really brings the whole thing down, it should have been dark brown or tanned, like Alien Attack, to really get that rusted look, or even just grey or gun metal to still get that robotic look. This looks like a prototype. Vehicle mode is good, the front truck is great on its own, and while the oil tank isn't as convincing, one could argue you cover that part with the cloak.
