Unique Video of a Volcano Fissure opening up! First few minutes of The Birth of a Volcano in Iceland 

I always wondered how the first seconds of a fissure eruption look like. This looks amazing! Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

If you think about it, the sequence is kind of obvious: the ground gets hot, the moss starts smoking and catches fire, then lava starts spurting out. Actually seeing it happen and capturing it on video is amazing. I wonder how many people have seen such a thing. Well done for catching it and thanks for sharing the experience!

I'm very impressed that you camped out for days to get shots of the new volcano coming up. The shots of the new fissure starting with the ground smoking all the way to lava coming up was very interesting. It's extremely rare to get such shots. But it was too short. I hope you can do another edit purely on that new fissure opening up. Don't worry if it's long, we won't find it boring. Instead of doing a jump cut from the new fissure opening up to the larger fissures, can you pan out from the new fissure so we see it in the context of the other fissures?

It’s quite crazy that a crack can just open up and lava starts belching out of the earth. Quite terrifying. The way soil got shot up at 0:58 before the first lava emerged damn.

Only from @1.00 to @1.05 in this video does it show the actual instant fissure opening up starting to spew lava! First I've ever seen capturing this, thank you! The rest of the video is boring, almost stock footage of typical small-scale fissure eruptions.

Astonishing speed. I'm thankful that lava flows in Iceland are fairly liquid; it allows scientists to observe carefully and civilian government to plan ahead.

Is this what the Vikings think Ragnarok would look like? The Earth opening up to reveal a lava giant?
