a little preview of how I mark and cut cap stones, after 14 years of experience this is quickest and easiest way to get the job done.
Step 1: place all your cap stones in the desired curve/over-hang
Step 2: leave enough room on the first and last block to have a chiseled edge
Step 3: mark every second block on both sides against the adjacent block with a level or straight bar
Step 4: repeat until the job is finished
*make sure your last few blocks leave you with enough space to end your caps with a full block, if that is not the case swap out a few previous blocks with various sizes until this is possible*
Although not seen in this clip I have proper ear protection a mask

Great tip, what's the reason for the second mark a half inch from your first mark?
@MontrealMx
@MontrealMx 9 лет назад
+Bryant Steinbugl around 1:22 in the vid if you take a closer look the bottom of the block would have had a small chunk missing, i made my first mark then transfered my line over a half inch so that corner would b cut off

Do you always cut the stone on the left as you work your way through?

Ya I cut ever second stone or at least try to I use my hand and fingers to get a even over hang then use my 2ft level to trace the angle

i use a 2ft level as a straight edge to get my angle then mark the following block that i want to cut keeping a consistent overhang

That's the slowwww way Simply bridge the caps setting up with overlay and strike lines of sides of top cap Then cut and drop Must faster and cleaner curves

So two cuts for each stone you are fitting (typically)?

I use my 10 inch wet saw to do this,faster,and no dust.Just sayin.
@MontrealMx

a table saw might make a cleaner cut but from 14years of experience its not faster
@Mkmike70

Agreed not faster and you can’t make cuts like this using water I’ve been doing patio work for 18 years I cut them right on top of the wall most of the time can’t do that around the pool coping
