Thank you so much for this video! For me it's difficult to repeat after women and sound natural, because their pitch is too high. This video was very helpful!
My voice is monotonous (T_T) and it's very difficult to imitate the tones. I guess this is more like a voice lesson for me. Anyway, how he explained the tones was definitely superb! I like to watch more classes from this teacher! Fei chang hao ! xie xie!
Hi! Thank you for visiting my channel! My suggestion is you can also practice the Mandarin Chinese tones with my another video. Tones Practice ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JNsb9agMCJE.html Keep to repeat it just like singing a song. :-) This may help your monotonous voice.
I love this video!!! I like repeating the tones with along with you. I feel like it is fine tuning my pronunciation. Keep making videos. You are a great teacher.
This is absolutely wonderful! It would be awesome if you could do demonstrate the tones using sentences. Just an idea! Thank you! Gerrie from Montreal.
That's a good idea. I have a lot of demonstration for the tones in phrases and sentences in my other videos. Maybe you can also check on it in my channel if you need. :-)
Thank you so much for this video. I´m studying Chinese and I can write and read a lot of chinese writing but I still have problems to talk because of this 4 different tones. So again: 谢谢 :-)
good video tough I still don't hear the difference between the 2nd and 3rd tone. Also it is more clear when you make the sounds longer which is unfortunately not what's done in real conversations
In real conversations, the 3rd tone is always half spoken. 3rd tone = dropping sound + rising sound That is to say, when the 3rd tone is spoken as the rising sound then it really sound like 2nd tone since 2nd tone is also a rising sound.
Thank you. I have been trying to get the tones, but still I find them similar somehow, especially the second and third together Q: When you as Chinese person speak with the second or third, don't you feel like you are questioning somehting or asking a question?! I mean how do you naturally feel? This is what I feel!
thooalinfo When I was young, I never know that rising tone is used for the questions in English. But after I learned English, I noticed that Mandarin Chinese second tone sounds like the rising sound when speaking English for a question. I know two languages are different. So I am fine and have no trouble with them. :-)
I have been learning Chinese off and on for about 3 months now. Enjoyed this lesson. What does ba mean in the 5 different tones. One means father, right? xiexie
You are right! One of the meaning of "ba" means "Father". Each sound in Mandarin Chinese can corresponding to not only one characters. That means each sound can have a lot of meanings. Here are the examples: First tone ba can means "number right", "scar"... Second tone ba can means :"pull out", "cross mountains"... Third tone ba can means "handle", "hold", "take"... Forth tone ba can means "Dad", "tyrant", "cease"... Fifth tone ba can be used as an "emphatic final particle" at the end of a sentence. Thank you visiting my channel. I wish you a happy learning. :-)
In my opinion, if it's really hard for you to get the right tones down, you can start to speak the vocabularies or phrases. I have a friend who is learning Mandarin Chinese and his tones for speaking is often not right to me. However, I can still understand what he said by the context. Just remember that language is a tool for communicating. Once you can understand what people say to you and you can also express what you want to say to them. Then it is enough. Base on this, you can still try to adjust your tones when learning Mandarin Chinese. Later your Mandarin Chinese ability will get into a higher level. It takes time. Go for it! I think you can really make it work.
ok thanks i already know some japanese and kanji and they say the third language you learn will be easier than the second i dont find the tones hard you just have to train your ear to hear them. but i notice in chinese conversation the tones are almost not distinct you cant hear them as much when they are speaking fast
Plz also give this pronunciation n meaning in written For Example:- ●Pinyin xiē xiē Meaning Thank you Pronunciation shyeh shyeh Character 谢谢 ●No. 2 Chinese èr Pronunciation are Character 二
Hi! This Tone lesson is designed for beginners who has never learned Mandarin Chinese before. Therefore it won't contains the content like what you suggest to me like the Chinese characters. In the advanced lessons in mt channel, it contains more information like characters, meaning of each character, pronunciation for each character. For the pronunciation, I always directly use Pinyin to represent the sound instead of any others. Thanks for your suggestion and understanding.
Happy Chinese New Year! In this video, the fifth tone means the "neutral tone". Some teachers like me call the "neutral tone" as the fifth tone for non-Mandarin Chinese speakers. That's easier for students to understand and memorize. These 5 tones in Mandarin Chinese are called " 一聲", "二聲", "三聲", "四聲" and "輕聲" which is corresponding to the "first tone", "second tone", "third tone", "fourth tone", and "neutral tone" in my lesson.
