AZ Unit 8 archery Bull - Sam had spend some 40 days in the pervious 4 seasons trying to arrow an elk unfortunately without success, so when he drew a tag in Arizona he wanted to make sure he did right by it. We had been experiencing a very anemic rut and I a unit filled with high tag numbers and a crazy amount of people just camping which was making the hunting very tough and hard for us to stay positive. I had found a big bull (360") 3 days prior and we managed to stay on this bull for 3 days throwing all we could at him but he would zig when we zagged finally on the 4th morning when I relocated him I decide to hunt him like a big deer and abandon trying to call him in. By 9am we found ourselves 150 yds sitting above him and his haram . i located his travel and escape route via onX maps and we made our play. 20 mins later we had the whole herd making its way passed us at 18 yards and Sam recognizing a "Bird in the Hand" opportunity took the first satellite bull that passed through. Made and excellent shot and the bull piled up within 50yards #elkhunting #elkhunter #elkseason #buglingbulls
