Wow, that lack of padding on the first class seats is insane! Delta's newest first seats still have a good 4" of padding AND top-notch IFE. Those seats look super cheap with maybe 1.5" of padding. Not even first class is safe on United anymore!

Delta first class is all I fly no other airline been that way for me now for 5 years . They have good seats , great food they don’t run out and the large tv screens . These economy seats reminded me of Ryan Air lol nice job United !!! 👍

& 19:49: The “high sink water pressure” is due to air getting trapped in the lines. Open the water valve for several seconds while the water shoots out and the trapped air will come out too. The volumetric flow rate of the water will then stabilize and remain that way until the potable water tank is refilled.

I don't mind the absence of IFEs on short flights...but cereal as your inflight food in First Class is a joke. A bad joke, that is.

I wish IFE was still a priority like on Delta, it’s so annoying to use a phone or tablet because if the WiFi isn’t working or their is a technical error then you have no enternaiment, especially on those Alaska to Houston flights.

It was interesting seeing this video show up in my feed after the current crashes and grounding.

no IFE even in first class? for me IFE is not only for entertainment...IFE also brings great ambience in the cabin, welcoming feeling when you seat as in front of you the IFE monitor shows welcome aboard note....

My God, I swear if the flight attendant offered me cereal after paying first class prices I would be livid. That shouldn't even be an option, and to add insult there's no I.F.E? How is United Airlines still operating?

Thanks for sharing this. It's quite sad that United is doing the same thing on their MAXs like American by removing the IFE. I mean really, the first class got no IFE as well? Total rip off. Good thing I am still flying Delta. However, I really like the MAX cockpit and the engine sounds is reasonable but quiet.

Disappointing 'First Class' American carriers need to look globally to see how the competition is truly taking off. Check Flydubai, JetBlue and other less expensive airlines that offer more of a premium product in their business class cabins let alone other international legacy carriers.

I last flew out of IAH in 2000 - not to Orlando but to Miami, but also stayed overnight in the airport Marriott - great memories here, thank you. Things were very different to this though - I had the very last row of an American 727 all to myself, looking right into the #2 JT8D Engine Duct and listening to the beautiful (very loud) music from that engine. The flight was not full, and the cabin crew gave me a couple of extra slices of pound cake. Beautiful flight that has always stuck in my mind!

I think the subtle cabin decor is tasteful. Didn't hear any cabin boarding music being played. AA kept that little atmospheric perk on its MAX. The UA meal presentation was good. I like the branding elements. Streaming-only IFE would make them not my first choice, however. I realize only Delta and JetBlue will have single-aisle AVOD IFE by 2019-2020.

You are flying 1st class, you need to buy water! As many things in US, the aircraft interior so clinical looking! Last choice for all US airlines for me. Put some effort to welcome passengers for your inaugural flight at the boarding gate, the decorations......!

You are flying First Class and you went to buy coffee, and water, in the stores? Don't they have a lounge for First Class passengers, with at minimum soft drinks and coffee. In Asia, even a one-hour flight Business Class ticket gives you lounge access with alcohol and hot food.

I miss the 727s.. much better service in the pre 911 years..

I don't care what anybody says, having no IFE at your seat is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE when you're paying for a First Class product period!!

Anyone who has flown will report a bad flight experience and the airline responsible at one time or another. I fly from Canada to several destinations in the United States, and I almost always fly with United Airlines. So far every trip has been a charm. The service from United's workers, both at the terminal and in the air has been exceptional. I'm looking forward to my first time aboard the new MAX.

How sad. From its very first moments, UAL has made this beautiful, new aircraft seem dated and utterly inadequate. How Oscar keeps in the good graces of the UAL board is beyond me. I will continue to fly Delta.

...just saw the Delta A-220 inaugural vid and yep, the Max is noisier on takeoff (almost annoyingly so with that high pitched whine). ...and that globe branding was taken from Continental.

Flew on one of these from SFO to Cancun August 2017. No inflight entertainment made for a tough 4.5 hours.

Also, I wish UA would used the blue mood lighting during boarding. I hate it when the FAs use the boring white lights on sky interior airplanes

Hey Emiliano.... Considering the year this was posted, you might not ever see this "Comment". As always, enjoy the engine-wing views. Just an FYI for future flights on the 8 , 9, standard and Max - sit in one of the isle seats abeam the winglets. You'll get an appreciation for how much the wings bend in flight. In flight, from the isle seat, the winglet disappears from view. (No fare bending over and looking up; that sort defeats the purpose). Once on the ground again, the winglets come back into view, when seating normally. Noted this on a flight from LAX - SLC. Hmmmm.... Interesting. Most pax's won't even notice. The bend in the wing on take-off is really interesting on the 787; 747-400 & -8; A 330, 350, 380. On the A 380's you can actually see the wings droop at the tips, once the spoilers come up, and aircraft weight on wheels. (Need to view this from behind the aircraft to really see it.) Cheers....

For me boeing 737max is like a sports car ground clearance is low exterior body looks amazing but the most amazing is the winglet...

I absolutely hate flying on a 737 on any trip longer than 4 hours. Its still a small plane and does not take turbulence too well. Especially from Anchorage to Honolulu.

I just completed a flight on UAL in first class with the new seats. They are def less than first class fell and not as comfy as before. The recline(if that what you wanna call it) is terrible. As the seat back reclines, the seat itself is raised upward making for a very awkward position which is very uncomfortable. The inflight service was just ok...they always run out of the the most desirable food selection on the menu and some first class get no choice since my flight attendant went from seat to seat from some list. I assume it starts with highest status and works down to lowest no matter how much you paid for the seat. So I skipped the crappy meal and just had as much booze as they would serve me cause that seems like the only true benefit of flying first class with United.

I very much enjoyed your trip report, but UAL has not done great things with the FIrst Class interior on the new MAX 9. As a matter of fact, the back of the First Class seats looks just like the back of the seats on Spirit Airlines. I just expected a bit more from UA.

Intercontinental is showing its age, time for a remodel and updating. The first sign is the colors, stark white goes back to the early 80's when loud, bright colors were the rule, tie dye etc

Rip the engine buzz sound

In the next, 737 5th generation, boeing will put the engines ABOVE the wings, which will sometimes make the plane drop like stone from the sky & roll over, but no worries. The MCAS MAX V 8.0 will compensate that (via a software you couldn't possibly understand) and so no new training will be required for the pilots. Ryanair already ordered 3400 of these. Airbus is FINISHED!

Honestly this thing looks as about as advanced as an MD-80 for the passengers- no ife, not even overhead, only streaming? Really? and the size of first class- it looks just like the md-80s first class.

I think delta’s economy matches up to UA’s first class. I’ll stick with delta. I’ve never EVER had an issue with them.

I have been a loyal United customer for 10 years. But this year I finally made the decision to go to American. United’s seats are really uncomfortable in economy especially on long haul flights. The meal service in both economy international flights are awful. Service is just as bad. They don’t offer any premium economy seats on international flights such as American and Delta now do. I just grabbed a round trip ticket to Tokyo on American for $1300 from Baltimore to Narita connecting once in Dallas for less then United from Washington to Narita. I have over 750,000 miles flown and usually keep my gold status each year. I have gotten upgraded on domestic twice in the last five years. In addition United holds back giving upgrades because they are trying to sell the upgrades just to make a few extra bucks. Even platinum status don’t get the upgrades anymore. So what’s the point of being a loyal customer when you get nothing in return? Ok sometimes it’s nice to use the lounge when flying internationally. The last straw for me happened when I was seated in first on a domestic flight with meal service. The flight attendant took my seat mates order then passed me over. Didn’t say a word to me. When I asked why she’s skipping me I was told that meal preferences were given by elite status. Never in all my years of flying had that ever happened. Anyone else heard of this or had it happen? The guy sitting next to me was just as stunned as I was. United if you are reading this, your services lack compared to other airlines. It’s almost becoming a budget airline. Boy do I miss Continental.

I like watching the gap between the fuselage window and cabin panels expand during takeoff and contract during landing. 2 and a half millimeters between you and certain death. 16:09

People need to realize that airlines are trying to MAKE money. Not run themselves into bankruptcy because they care about the "precious customer". Flying is a quick form of transportation used to get people from point A to point B. It's no longer a luxury but almost a standard

Please care to explain all the short forms in the video, people don't subscribe to technical jargon!
